“First an most importantly the service is on point (not like other places in Avola). The food is great for sea food lovers. The prices are a bit high, but that's expected since its next to the seaside. The selection of wine is also very good. I had traditional pasta & mixed salad, the portions were big and tasty.”

“Always excellent. Great value. Good food. Nice staff. They have a bread shop, a bar, cakes, a self service cafeteria at lunch time, a pizzeria upstairs in the evenings and a great supermarket round the corner. Arrive at midday for lunch so you have the best selection of the hot fresh food on offer for lunch. Lunch was €10 for a main, 5 vegetables and water. Dinner was €10 for a pizza, patatine fritte, a drink and Coperto.”

“We ate dinner very early in Sicilian standards- 6:30pm. The waitress was very friendly and answered all my questions about local life. I felt very welcomed- felt like a small town place to me. The food was very good. We had the ensalada bufalo- amazing! And the Parmesan (Parmesan aubergine) and the carbonara- the meat melted in your mouth. They also offered raw oysters, prawns and lagoustine- we didn’t chose this but many did. They will grill all but the oysters. The oysters were from France and China. We had a lovely time and would go back.”

“I visited Oleum Ortigia on a crisp evening in November 2023. I was seated immediately, very friendly and inviting staff. They have the tastiest potato appetizer on the menu - salty, oily with the right amount of onions. I highly recommend this appetizer. The pizza was fantastic as well. Please drizzle the various olive oil variants (provided at the table) generously on all the food items.”

“Well we were pleasantly surprised. After a subpar dinner last night and the typical Italian breakfast/lunch, we were craving a delicious, tradition based, homemade Sicilian meal, and we certainly found it here. Nothing was over salted, overcooked or fried. Authentic. Definitely not your typical tourist trap kind of place either. Staff was kind and friendly. We really enjoyed ourselces. Everything was cooked to perfection. (Forgive the fact that I don't remember the exact dish titles) In photo order: (Not pictured) - vegetarian flan - wow! I didn't know flan could be that delicious! Eggplant Parmigiano: fresh and light. Pan seared and not too oily. Really well done. Grilled octopus: fresh and tender, potatoes tasty and light, melon a nice refreshing touch. Fasicile Ragu: fresh and homemade pasta. Wonderful taste from the tuna but not overbearing. Delicate balance done well. Spaghetti alla siracusana: just like grandma used to make. Al dente, not too salty, fantastic. I was waiting for this all week and so glad this was the place I had it. Meatballs: stuffed with cheese! So good. Not your typical meatballs with too much oil or filler. Mostly mea, so fresh and less fat than usual. Cooked perfectly. Pistachio pudding: it was like a cross between a pudding and a Gelato. Not too sweet. Perfect way to end the meal. All in all, a wonderful experience for our last night in siracusa.”

“We passed a wonderful evening there, I’m quite surprised about the negative comments. The service was very kind and attentive, the food and selection of local wines was delicious and the atmosphere on the terrace was perfect, romantic and cozy. There were quite some mosquitos during the first 30mins or so (they luckily disappeared thereafter) and the waiter brought us mosquito repellent without our asking for it. We are considering staying at the hotel next time we come to Sicily.”
