Hawkers Asian Street Food

4201 Wilson Blvd #0170, Arlington, VA 22203, United States

“Stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon. There's a happy hour special for half off all alcoholic drinks and a selection of small plates for $5 (about 50-60% off normal price). The pork belly buns are great, especially with the bits of cashew to add a texture element. The spring rolls are filled with a delicious, smooth filling. The Korean fried chicken was super crunchy, spicy, and great. No server, just the bartender, and we sat in a booth outside the bar areas. Nonetheless, he was attentive and answered questions and recommendations from the menu. 10/10 will revisit to try other dishes. Ordered a 5 spice old fashioned- not too different than regular, not tons of 5 spice flavor (it's a 5 spice simple syrup). Would personally have liked to have more 5 spice flavor to really set it apart. Spouse ordered a Malaysian Mule. Similar situations the turmeric simple syrup wasn't as strong to really set the drink off from a regular mule. Still, would go back and try other cocktails (especially during happy hour) to find one that really sets it apart as being unique to Hawkers.”

“This place has good atmosphere, it was very welcoming. We’ve never eaten this type of food and the guy at the register helped us to get something tasty and he had a very good attitude and it was already late night. We we received our plates it was a lot of food, more than we expected and it was very tasty. The meat, the chicken, naan bread all was really good. I recommend this place, will continue going back.”

“Small and intimate setting. Low lighting and great music selection the evening we went. The good R&B if you can imagine. We made reservations and were seated in a timely manner. Service was slow but our waitress was nice. We enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. Portions aren’t big but satisfying to us.”

“This place was worth every bite! The owner was very personable and took care of us bring me and my family ice cream and they even had a new ginger flavor that was honestly some of the best tasting ice cream I’ve had in awhile. The sushi was delicious and well put together! The eel bowl was rich and thick flavoring. Some of the best sashimi too! If you want quality taste this is the place.”

“Simply wonderful. Couldn't have picked a better place to spend me and my wife's one year anniversary. Great atmosphere, beautiful views, and amazing food. Super convenient for nights when you are seeing a play or musical. The chilled lobster and lobster mac and cheese were wonderful. Also, the combo of the chocolate mousse dessert with a cappuccino was delicious.”

Sawatdee Thai Restaurant
4.2
( 16 reviews ) $$

2250 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201, United States

“My recent dining experience at Sawatdee Thai Restaurant left me with impressions that navigated through the realms of average culinary offerings, olfactory discomfort, and concerns about cleanliness. Nestled in a neighborhood that beckons patrons with the promise of authentic Thai cuisine, Sawatdee Thai Restaurant presented a dining journey that had both its merits and drawbacks. Commencing with the culinary aspect, the food at Sawatdee Thai Restaurant, while not extraordinary, fell into the category of averageness. The menu showcased a variety of Thai dishes, each offering a familiar yet not particularly standout taste. The flavors, while decent, did not carry the depth and boldness that one might associate with exceptional Thai cuisine. The lack of a distinctive flavor profile left the overall culinary experience hovering in the realm of the ordinary. A less savory aspect of the visit was the interior ambiance. The restaurant, regrettably, suffered from an undesirable odor that lingered throughout the dining space. The unpleasant smell, whether related to the kitchen or other factors, detracted significantly from the dining experience. A restaurant's atmosphere is a crucial component of the overall journey, and the pervasive smell in this instance impacted the comfort and enjoyment of the patrons. On a related note, concerns about cleanliness extended to the restroom facilities. A clean and well-maintained restroom is integral to the satisfaction of diners, and unfortunately, the state of the toilets at Sawatdee Thai Restaurant left much to be desired. This aspect significantly dampened the overall impression of the venue and raised questions about the establishment's commitment to hygiene. In terms of service, the staff at Sawatdee Thai Restaurant were courteous and attentive, providing a silver lining to the dining experience. The positive interactions with the staff contributed to a more favorable impression despite the drawbacks in other areas. In conclusion, Sawatdee Thai Restaurant, while offering a menu of average Thai cuisine, faced challenges in maintaining a pleasant interior ambiance and ensuring cleanliness standards. Addressing these concerns would be instrumental in elevating the overall dining experience for patrons seeking an authentic and satisfying Thai culinary adventure.”

300 Army Navy Dr, Arlington, VA 22202, United States

“The food was really good, I recommend starting with the grilled octopus as appetizer and finishing with the spaghetti. The food wasn't fast though. We spent 2 hrs and a half there 1 hr and a half to get our food. Thankfully we ordered appetizer. The check came in but it also took a while. The server gave us lots of water so he was attentive but then it was hard to find him at check out. Great views and perfect place to surprise a date. Just make sure to book way in advance, like 2 months.”
