“We had a quick getaway to Queensland over the weekend and made sure to visit @communeespresso as we had been wanting to for a while now. A cute little cafe, slightly rustic with outdoor seating available. Food is nice and healthy and they do good coffee too. We had their avocado 🥑 on toast and a scrambled eggs with spinach. We had an enjoyable cafe visit”

Wrapture

“Amazing phenomenal delicious fresh beautiful wraps every time you go to Wrapture. We love the Olympus and all of the lemon chicken wraps the best. The Zen Hen is too sweet and wet for us and I would also recommend asking for less meat and more salad:) The bread they use for their wraps is incredibly tasty and freshly baked. The fries are unusually yummy with a dipping sauce. The only problem with Wrapture is that you will think about their wraps during your day and they will pop into your head and you will find yourself going back for more!❤️”

“Deep South Chicken has left an indelible mark on our taste buds with their outstanding Chicken Tenders. We decided to give this place a try based on a friend's recommendation, and we're so glad we did! The Chicken Tenders at Deep South Chicken are in a league of their own. They have a unique spice blend that sets them apart from the usual offerings, leaving a memorable taste lingering on your palate. Each bite was a burst of flavour that kept us coming back for more. To complete the meal, the Chicken Tenders came with a side of perfectly seasoned fries that were simply delightful. The fries had a lovely seasoning that elevated their taste and made them an excellent companion to the main dish. Also, the macaroni salad was very good, with a creamy and flavourful dressing. The cornbread had a nice sweetness and texture. We placed our order on the 25th of June 2023, and it was a decision we didn't regret. The quality of the food was outstanding, and the taste surpassed our expectations. The friendly staff at Deep South Chicken ensured that our experience was pleasant and satisfying. If you're looking for the best takeaway fried chicken tenders, Deep South Chicken is the place to go. Their unique spices, combined with flavourful sides, make for an exceptional meal. Don't hesitate to visit this place and indulge in its mouthwatering offerings. You won't be disappointed!”

Hop & Pickle

6e Little Stanley St, South Brisbane QLD 4101, Australia

“The two pretty ladies who run this joint are polite, friendly and helpful. We booked online for a Sunday evening, and when we arrived our table was waiting for us, positioned near the screen that had been set up for the Trivia Night. As it was a Sunday night, the menu was quite limited with the main option being the roast beef, plus a few burgers and fish dishes. We chose calamari and roast beef. The roast beef came with a huge and fluffy Yorkshire pud and a nice selection of fresh vegetables but the meat was too undercooked for my liking. The calamari was also a tad too soft, I prefer mine a bit more chewy. The seating plan is entirely outdoors but undercover, with no indoor options. This setup is perfect for spring or summer dining, allowing guests to watch the bustling activity along Little Stanley Street. However, it may not be as suitable in winter. On the night we visited, the Trivia Night drew a good crowd, creating a lively and fun atmosphere. The venue's location in the heart of the South Bank dining precinct also added to the vibrant ambience. The wooden tables are sturdy and easily able to fit drinks and meals, while the upholstered leather chairs are quite comfortable. The venue's toilets are located behind the establishment, accessible through a glass door. There are separate, clean, and well-maintained male and female facilities. We didn’t drive this time, so I couldn't comment on the parking situation, but from the South Bank ferry terminal it's an easy 15 minute level walk through the South Bank parklands and restaurant precinct. Overall, for those who enjoy trivia or comedy with their meal, this could be a good option.”

“Really enjoyed our visit, was a nice break from all the driving we were doing. Great cafe and just had a lovely feel to the place. A welcome change from servo’s and road houses. Great spot for some gift shopping too. Really glad we stopped by. The staff were very sweet and helpful. Emily and the other 2 young ladies were excellent. Only feedback would be that the accessible bathroom had a pedal operated rubbish bin for hand towels. Doesn’t work for people with reduced or no leg mobility. Please consider changing it to a swing top to make it actually accessible.”

The Smug Fig Kitchen & Social

7 Jeavons Ln, Stones Corner QLD 4120, Australia

“Delicious food, this place is one of few that can perfect a medium poached egg. Overall great service, fresh ingredients and well made coffee. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the portion size of the meal received is a little on the small side for the price paid (Eggs Benedict). Definitely reccommend trying this cafe if you havnt already.”

“We went there for dinner on the 27th of May for our anniversary, and loved it. Exceptional service. We were greeted by friendly staff, with big smiles and professional attitudes. The food was packed full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. We also found the prices reasonable. And loved how we didn't have to leave the table for any reason, even to pay.”

Arundel Tavern

“I’ve dined here once and on the “Bistro” side as there is a restaurant inside, so there are actually two different dining spaces in the vicinity. The way the tavern is set up is kind of strange as there is a separate outside section which is for bistro food and the menu differs slightly from the inside section. The kitchen doesn’t open until 5:30PM as with most Taverns and the new renovated Bistro section actually looks quite good. Great family friendly area with the playground, sport screens showing footy games etc We ordered two kids meals (Spaghetti Bol, Nuggets and chips) and I ordered the Chilli Prawn Linguini. I thought the kids menu was the cheapest I’ve seen woohoo only ten bucks 🤩until the food came out and it was like $6.00 worth of food. The chicken nuggets only came with a handful of chips (sad) which they tried to cover spreading and spacing the nuggets over it. To be honest I would rather pay a bit more than have a stingy serving of chips (as in under ten chips on the plate? Poor form come on just add more or increase the cost a bit to get a decent serving. The Kids Spaghetti Bol didn’t look too bad and my daughter enjoyed it and at least this kids menu item was a decent serving size. The Prawn Linguine however was delicious so I would come back again for that! My husband decided to also add to our order the Calamari. The Calamari is probably not the best I’ve had (too soft and wobbly not a nice crunch like I prefer) and the ratio of chips to calamari was a bit off. Like did I order chips with a side of calamari? 🤣anyway I do think it has potential but they are a little stingy with portions here which is why I rate it 3. Service is ok, food is ok and ambience is pretty nice for an arvo hang/drink with friends. Wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here but it does the job for a pub feed.”

Season Buffet

“Hoo boy, where do I start? We visited in Nov, and unfortunately, this is the worst hotpot OR buffet restaurant that I've been to in Australia, and a definite low point of our GC vacation. The long and short of it is that the service is bad, the food is worse, and even the limited options available start disappearing over an hour before closing. Feel like having charcoal grilled skewers? Half of the reviews are outdated - this place no longer serves skewers, it has been replaced with "BBQ", but the BBQ is a hot plate with no charcoal, at $43 p/p. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem, except for the fact that literally every single meat option is marinated. If you don't like sweet marinated meat on your barbie, you're out of luck. This, again, wouldn't be such a huge problem if the hotpot was half-decent, but... you guessed it. The few frozen hotpot meats tucked away in a corner were tough and flavourless, and there is a very minimal variety of hotpot ingredients in general - you would get a significantly better selection at any budget malatang restaurant for less than half the price. The 2 hotpot flavours that we tried were incredibly bland. To add insult to injury, the 4 or so desserts available taste like stale Woollies leftovers, the "hot" meals were nearly room temperature, and some of them were removed at 8.15pm, over an hour before closing time. This included the fried rice, which was, incidentally, one of the THREE carb options available in the entire restaurant. Partner got fried rice immediately after he was seated, said there was plenty left, I went for it a few minutes afterwards and it was gone. Asked the lady in charge if they could replenish it, she shrugs and says "we don't have this". Oh, and the "cold" drinks are all room temperature, too, unless you feel like having fluorescent-colored Fanta slushies. Enjoy. We left hungry and dissatisfied, as the food was just so unappetizing. An absolute rip-off for $43pp - you could get a better, more satisfying meal for that price (or less) at almost every hotpot or KBBQ restaurant in the Brisbane area. The staff could clearly see that we were not happy and didn't care. Had to ask twice for spoons to be replaced in the empty spoon tray (because we were not given spoons), and again the shrug and utter lackadaisical attitude. The young lady cleaning the floor near closing time was nice, I guess, but you won't be interacting much with her. Was part of it because we arrived "near closing time", as in 75 whole minutes before closing? Yes, perhaps, and they made us very (very, very) aware of this fact, with the middle-aged man at the counter basically standing right in our faces as we looked at the menu at our tables on arrival. However, the 8.15pm booking slot is actually available on their website (so it wasn't a case of "entitled travelers show up after kitchen closes asking for meals"), and some of the issues are unlikely to be better at any other time. At any rate, I certainly wouldn't spend $86 testing the hypothesis.”

“Having never been it was surprising a lovely surrounding. Not sure what to order we were recommended to order the Poppers & Nachos - yummy! Both didn’t disappoint. The poppers were 10/10 However the chicken Tacos were a little less tasty & not much on a flat tortilla $19 it’s up there - would be nice to have a bit more salad & guacamole & sour cream on side. Overall will be back!”

The Islander Resort, 3/187 Thomas St, Noosaville QLD 4566, Australia

“We are lovers of Indian food. Unfortunately I have to say that restaurant doesn't serve authentic Indian food. Every food is rather adjusted to mild taste. Even we did ask for medium hot lentils and lamb shank, the taste didn't satisfy. Lamb shank was done properly, it was nicely cooked but ruined with very creamy curry. Naan was very nice. List of drinks was ok but it could be better. Sitting was inside and outside. We did choose the table outside. It was so unpleasant, hot and without fans we were sweating. Big plates are nice but they do take so much space from the small tables. The staff were very friendly and service quick. I do not think we shall go back.”

“Cute little café on a lovely tree lined street near the river, one of my favourite cafés in West End. I've come here quite a few times in the past for their delicious bao boards (highly recommended) and today ordered the chorizo and red pepper omelette with sourdough toast which was both delicious and a generous serve :) Staff and service was friendly and attentive and the vibe relaxed and surprisingly quiet for a Sunday morning brunch period. A great little neighbourhood café with an extensive menu, you can't go wrong!”
