Faicco's Italian Specialties

260 Bleecker St, New York, NY 10014, United States

“Perfect example of a "Great Sandwich Shop". As soon as you walk in, you have one cook for your whole visit. They'll greet you, take your order, make your order, have a small convo, and take your payment at the end. Sandwiches were amazing. I can't put into words how tasty they were. We had the Chicken Pesto Cutlet and the Italian Lover. They went heavy on the prosciutto and Roasted Red peppers without even asking for it (which i love). The sandwiches are $20 but the portions are so big you'll eat it for your next meal too. Besides the amazing food, they treated me like a regular and that genuine, sincere hospitality is so hard to find in this city. I can see how they've been open since the 1900's.”

Under Construction, 88 Essex St, New York, NY 10002, United States

“A little hard to find but well worth the search. The service was fast and pleasant. You can tell the owners/workers take pride in what they are doing. I got the chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint. The biscuits are top notch and the flavor on the chicken is really good. So often you get chicken sandwiches that are dressed up with all kinds of things that disguise the lack of flavor in the chicken itself. The toppings complimented the chicken, leaving it front and center. Can you get a better chicken sandwich in the city? I’m sure you can find a few somewhere. Can you get a better chicken sandwich for under $7? Absolutely not. A new LES staple”

“My son came exclusively from Atlanta to come eat these sandwiches. He did not get just 1 by 4! One better than the next one, but heads down, Del Boss, was our absolute favorite! Staff were super friendly & helpful. The line was not so bad & moved quickly. It is the right space but makes it fun! The secret menu looked interesting, but that will be for the next time, because without a doubt I'll or we will be back. YUM YUM YUM!”

Claudette

24 5th Ave, New York, NY 10011, United States

“I had been eager to try Claudette for some time, drawn in by its inviting atmosphere and laid-back vibe. Its longstanding presence in NYC suggested a certain level of quality. However, my visit left me with mixed feelings. The atmosphere and service were indeed praiseworthy. Sadly, the food didn't quite meet our expectations. We started with the shrimps, which were the standout dish of the evening, and the octopus, where the ratio of potato to octopus seemed off. As for our main courses, I ordered the bouillabaisse, which turned out to be overly salty, and a notable portion of the clams remained closed. My friend opted for the ragu pasta, which also suffered from an excessive saltiness. To add to the disappointment, our side of Brussels sprouts arrived so deep-fried and greasy that they were nearly inedible. However, to their credit, the restaurant promptly removed the Brussels sprouts from our bill after we voiced our concerns. They even offered us a complimentary serving of vanilla ice cream as a gesture of goodwill. In summary, Claudette offered a welcoming atmosphere and good service, but the food, aside from the shrimp starter, left much to be desired. The issues with saltiness and the quality of some dishes were notable drawbacks during our visit.”

“Super legit classic Belgian tap and bottled beer selection. The beers are beautifully presented. But lacking the more modern innovative Belgians. Not a criticism, just an observation. Could be a platform for De Dolle and De La Senne - things folks here might really dig. Great service. Music too loud. Love the food.”

Percy's Pizza

“Delicious pizza. The sauce here is very sweet. They add a lot of sugar to the marinara. The Margherita slice is $4. And yes it is worth it. The interior is very cute actually. Very old school/ antique pizza parlor vibe. No recycling bin here. I am always disappointed when restaurants don't recycle.”

Chinese Tuxedo

5 Doyers St, New York, NY 10013, United States

“Went in recommendation that this place was good and had great dumplings. This place had great modern Asian decor located in NYC Chinatown. We tried a lot of their dim sum menu. The one that surprised us the most was the oxtail bun. Was the best out of all the things we tried. The next best was the 5 spice quail. They had these fried leaves as garnish and was surprisingly good. Such a good aroma to it and crunchy too. It was fried and had a good taste to it. The disappointing dish was the lobster and shrimp toast. The toast was so oily. Didn’t see or taste much lobster. It is all shrimp. They have a pickled vegetable on top of a marinated dried squid and the toast was cut into 4 pieces. The garnish was more interesting than the actual dish. Didn’t enjoy the over the top oily toast. The dumplings we had all are nothing to write home about. The squid ink noodles were super oily. I don’t know who has a taste for oily stuff. I personally can’t stomach it. The noodles so had a bit of sour flavor, I’m guessing out in to counteract the oil. Didn’t work. The last dish we had was the spicy fried chicken. It is pretty spicy but very good. They keep the place pretty dark. Service was great. Recommend you try it at least once.”

Zeppola Bakery

499 7th Ave, New York, NY 10018, United States

“Disappointing review. I admit I'm an Instagram girlie who live for pretty looking food, but I can never accept when aesthetics overpowers taste. I was completely deceived by the picture-perfect baked goods at Zeppola. The pastries here were AWFUL. I was craving for some sweets to boost my mood but unfortunately left unsatisfied. * Pistachio Cruffin The pastry was very stale and old, not to mention its lack of flakiness. Yes it was fully loaded with pistachio custard, but the texture was extremely sticky and chunky. I didn't enjoy eating it at all and gave up finishing it halfway through. * Apricot Bomboloni Sickly sugary apricot jam. My mouth was overwhelmed with sweetness which made me nauseous. Words can hardly describe how angry I was to fork over pastries that were far below average. ***15% off if you check in on Yelp. Thanks god I found this discount so I felt slightly better lol”

Kiss My Slice

274 W 40th St, New York, NY 10018, United States

“We needed a quick bite after a nice three hour train ride and Kiss My Slice did the trick. It's a small place, we chose to stand at the counter by the window to people watch, which, let's face it, NYC has prime people watching opportunities. The pizza came out hot, solid NY style pizza. Thin crust with not too much nor too little cheese and sauce. We got the special... 2 slices and a bottle of water for $5.50. For a snack, it was perfect. The guy behind the counter was polite. Eat here with no regrets.”

“Cute spot for brunch! They have nice decor, friendly service, and good natural light inside the restaurant. The food was nicely presented. In terms of taste, the food was fine, but not spectacular. I would consider this a good place to catch up with friends over brunch, but otherwise would not come for the food alone. I got the Crispy Chili Fries (decent, but too thin/crispy for my liking, I could barely taste any potato), Zoe's Market Plate (wholesome, good blend of ingredients, although it was a bit bland), and a latte (tasted fine, pretty art, but for some reason came in a glass cup).”

Kong Sihk Tong

“It's more like 2.5 and I'm being very critical bc I grew up eating this type of food in Hong Kong. The best is probably the milk tea, good strong tea flavor but not silky smooth. I was disappointed with the French Toast just wasn't crispy enough, it was very soft and soggy. The steamed rice roll is not bad. The satay beef noodle just meh ok, I can't really taste the peanut and 沙茶 flavor. I did say I'm being extra harsh. Having said that, I still love 茶餐廳, the vibe and the memories.”

“Went here to try their sandwiches. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the employees. They were so nice! He gave us recommendations since it was the first time going, and it didn’t disappoint! Highly recommend trying their different sandwich options and getting the fresh all natural lemonades.”
