“LOVE THIS PLACE! Very friendly and welcoming owner who helped us first-timers order. We got the mixed meat platter and everything came out exactly as imagined! “Thundercloud's S Lamar location has been my go-to spot for over 10 years, but the recent decline is disappointing. Attempts to speak with the manager have been futile, as he's consistently absent, leaving the staff to make decisions for themselves and the store. I consistently get vague excuses about his imminent return. This lack of managerial presence reflects in the worn-out appearance of the employees, often dressed in sweatpants and resembling as if they just rolled out of bed. Regardless of warm greetings, the overall atmosphere has become awkward, especially when inquiring about the manager. It's disheartening to witness this downfall, and after numerous disappointing experiences, I'm considering not returning to this location. Perhaps a more active manager is the remedy needed to revive the once-favorite spot”

“I had higher expectations for the food, but as other reviews mentioned it seems that the price point doesn't line up at all with the quality. We came during the brunch menu and ordered the spinach cheese dip to start with and I'm not sure what the standard for it is, but I'm truly baffled how both the chef and our server could look at it and decide it should ever leave the kitchen. What little cheese wasn't burned had been reduced to a congealed cottage cheese consistency. It's the first time I've ever sent a dish back. The chef(?) came out at some point after we sent it back and made small talk before going back inside, but never mentioned the dish to either explain or apologise. The server removed it from our ticket but didn't make any suggestions or effort to replace it. The rest of the meal was mediocre. We ordered a medium brick burger that came out well done, the crab Benedict was crab cakes that had very little flavour, the seasonal salad was an underwhelming plain spinach salad with a sprinkling of blueberries and strawberries and a dressing you don't need to write home about, the smoked brisket in the hash didn't taste smoked. Decided against dessert because I didn't want to see if it would match the rest of the experience. Overall I want to rate the food 1/5, maybe 2/5 because the staff are kind. The third star is for the beauty of the vineyard, the music and the quality of the wine. The Super Texas was a little too astringent for my tastes, but the rest of the wines are beautiful and definitely unique. I recommend people should go for the wine, the views and the live music, but eat before you go or stick to the pizzas.”

“I’ve been stopping by JJs for a long time and the taste of the smoked meats are pretty darn good. The brisket sandwich is large and filling, gotta request the sauce and pickes and onions though. I noticed they posted a sign for expanded hours and expanding the menu to TACOS! I love a great Pastor Taco, and the don’t fail on the meat portion and taste. I’ve ordered it twice now and it is very tasty. They are a bit stingy on salsa adding 50 cents for an additional sauce to the one they offer with the taco, but you have to request it as well, and today on my second order they failed to put it in the bag after I requested it and also they missed on my request for the taco on flour tortillas as the corn tortillas fail to hold the goodies inside! Again , 10 out of 10 of n the flavor of the pork, but they did miss on some of the execution. It is Sunday and they did sound busy, so I love their smoky goodness!!!”

Wish they had the traditional viet style baguette bread. The bread was abit hard that it cut my gums. The filling like the mayo, pate and cold cuts were good but just felt like they cheap out with the filling. For now it’s my to go viet sub place.”

Gobi Manchurian is a wonderful surprise - never think to order a cauliflower starter, but this one packs a punch of complex flavor! We ordered more than we could possibly eat (hooray for leftovers), but the mains that stood out to me from a flavor profile were the Lamb Rogan Josh and the Lamb Vibdaloo (yes, it’s just as hot as you’d expect). Recommend ordering a few options and attacking them tapas-style so that you can enjoy more variety. You really can’t go wrong with a lunch visit here b/c the restaurant is moderately busy, but still plenty of time for excellent service and attention from the staff. One call out: at Saffron South, you’re not here for the drinks, you’re here for the food, and that’s where I’d recommend putting your money. Delicious!”
