“What can I say? We stayed 4 days in Istanbul and we tried different restaurants. This is the best one. Food: typical, excellent! Very attentive and friendly service. And what about the desserts???? If you pass by and see it empty, don't think it really is: it has a terrace on the fifth floor that is always full! Very affordable prices for a great quality! Super super super suggested!”

“It is a lovely romantic dining experience. My wide and I really enjoyed ourselves. The food was well cooked, presented beautifully, and full of flavour. The service was great, in partially Little Mohamed and Aynura who were just delightful and made every effort for us. The Menu has plenty of fish options in particular. It is on the more expensive side, but the food is very well done. The piano music really helped set the atmosphere. The view at night is a little difficult to appreciate due to the lighting, but if you time it at sunset, or go late in slightly warmer weather when the windows can be opened, you will get a fantastic view.”

“I came here in the summer but became so sick I forgot to write a review. We were invited by friends for dinner at this restaurant. I expected a lot because of the good reviews. The view and the staff were very nice. Appetizers looked unique and interesting but weren't my favorite. When the main course came, it looked like the platter was made beforehand (cold veggies, skin-like layer on the sauce). The meat was fine but I didn't finish my meal. In general I was satisfied when I left, but the big problem came later. Me and my whole family became very sick, we were on the toilet for days and had to go to the doctor because of dehydration. Later we called our friends from the dinner, and they also had severe stomach problems. I would never expected something like this from a place with such nice staff and location. Very disappointed.”

“This is a popular fish restaurant in Kosuyolu area, we came after it was recommended by a friend. We went around 10, restaurant was half full. We ordered sea bass (Levrek), scad, and calamari, they came quick and they were fresh and tasty, they didn’t prepare the salad as we wished and in Greek salad there was no tomatoes which is strange. The service wasn’t very good, there was only 1 guy serving the full area and hard to catch by, all things that are coming with food, like lemon, wet wipes etc, you have to ask to get them. We waited very long to find him and order coffee as well. For two people, with soft drink and one drink, we paid 410 TRY, which is okay. I didn’t pay attention if they are charging kuver or not. Overall, Food: 4/5 Service: 1/5 Hygiene: 5/5”

The usual favorites are delicious (beans, patlican in yogurt etc) but the more unusual ones (shrimp and squid with garlic and onions, giritli ezme, smoked mackerel etc) were amazing. Surprisingly, the desserts stunned us even more! I recommend trying pineapple carpaccio. This is truly a masterpiece! It was one of the best desserts I've ever tried in my life - no jokes. Incredible combination of tastes. The service was great as well, everyone is very kind and caring. The atmosphere was incredible as well. The place is well decorated and attention to details is observed pretty much everywhere. Highly recommend to anyone seeking to try something high end for a reasonable pricing.”

“Unfortunately, I’m not impressed with the service nor the main dish this time around. Waiters came across quite impatient. We ordered fish main dish and there were only 4 tiny tiny pieces fish, too much yogurt and sauce and a lot of bread on the plate. It can’t be the whole fillet that’s for sure. Starters were amazing again. But in general I’m disappointed and I don’t think I will recommend Hodan to my foreign guests for a while. Sorry!”

“I hate to leave bad reviews, but this is not the same place it once was! The fantastic local restaurant clearly reviewed here so often has been swallowed into the place opposite, which has a garden. You can ignore any reviews from before that happened! I had the fish casserole with sword fish. The fish was over cooked, but it was tasty at least. The “buttered jacket potato” it was billed as coming with was half a microwaved potato that had not seen any butter at all. That theme continued with my friend’s food, which was supposed to be prawns in butter. Again, no butter (none, that’s not an exaggeration) or seasoning or flavour! The prawns were frozen and over cooked so they were woolly. Really unpleasant. The only good thing I can say is that it provided some expensive cat food for the local cats! The servers were chaotic, and constantly being unkind to the one of their number that they clearly deemed to be worthy only of the jobs they didn’t want to do (I couldn’t swear that race had anything to do with that, but it was an interesting coincidence). The more senior staff belittled the junior ones in front of customers, and it was painful to watch. The garden was a nice place to sit, and the cats provided some entertainment and dispatched the bad food. I’m sorry to whomever ran this business before and clearly did it so well. Your legacy has been ruined.”
