The food definitely did not dissappoint. The fish was fried perfectly, and fries too. Decided to also order the house curry sauce to try out. The place is hidden away from the main road, and you need to walk thru an alley to reach it. Google Map will definitely help.”

We had a small, medium and large Cod and Chips with 3 soft drinks and the bill came to £38 which in a popular tourist place like Eastbourne I think is fantastic value. If we are ever in this area again we will definitely revisit for our Fish and Chip fix. A full 5 stars from me ☺️”

“We hadn’t had a chance to come back here for a few years, I was very happy to find that when we were in the area it had recently reopened after their winter break. The location is incredible, just across the road from Shell Bay. The kitchen is equipped with a wood fire grill and a wood oven. The menu isn’t huge but is very complete. We were in the mood for fish, so I ordered the plaice and my wife had lemon sole. Both arrived quickly, very well presented and (most importantly) delicious. I ordered a side of Jerusalem artichokes with truffle and Parmesan, which was very nice and abundant. Not having been in so long, I was very happy with the whole experience and will definitely go back next time we are in the area.”

“Came here for a birthday and the food was disgusting. The venue was a complete mess! Everything was greasy and tasted of oil, glasses were filthy, staff clueless and pottering around and no food for children unless you pay full price for an oily fish cake. Also, £1.50 for a bread roll and the lobster was drowning in oily garlic so you couldn’t even taste it. When complaining to the staff about things, it took them 20 minutes to change a glass or they forgot about it! Worst meal ever and it was over £200! Their only edible item was the potatoes.”

“Visited this restaurant while in London. Wonderful food, if you like seafood it is a must stop. Great Oysters, great fish bait starter. I recommend the seafood platter because it is delicious and you get to try a few different things. They had great cocktails and wine as well. The service was good and had a nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back again. Good location as well for walking or exploring downtown.”

“Surprised my partner with a family dinner here for his birthday, and am so glad I did. When we arrived, we were shown to our table that had ample space for our party of 2 adults and two children. We were offered children's menus. The children were happy to have options for starters, which they don't always get on a kids menu. We attended on Thursday, which was 241 steak and grill night. We were offered drinks. The children asked for orange juice with lemonade. When I asked the price, I heard the children's drink was £1.60. The drinks that arrived were huge. When we received the bill where we were charged £2.50 for each drink. My partner went for a raspberry rum and lemonade. I had a large merlot. We were both happy with our drinks. My partner had the prawn and crayfish cocktail. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The children went for garlic bread and spring rolls. The garlic bread was good quality with minced garlic, and the spring rolls looked perfectly crisp. Both dishes got the thumbs up. For mains, the children went for the fish gougons with chips and scampi and chips. Again, the food looked fresh and crispy. Both adults went for the mixed grill, which was incredibly tasty and more enjoyable, knowing we were only paying for one dish. Everything on the plate was flavoursome. We had to ask for extra nbq sauce for the ribs, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the dish. I ordered peppercorn sauce for the 4 oz steak, not realising it was an extra cost, but the gravy boat housed a very generous portion that was very tasty. For afters, Mr. picked the baked strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake. I went for the pineapple upside down cake. The cheesecake was phenomenal. The pineapple upside-down cake was not quite as tasty and looked more like a rum cake than the cake I used to get at school with custard. It was a nice cake. Would have liked the option of custard instead of ice cream, but it was a good desert. The cheesecake was next level. Service was pleasant. It was a little slow at times but it appeared only 2 staff were on the floor and the restaurant was quite busy. I asked for the bill and eventually had to go ask at the bar. I received an apology because the server forgot. We were overcharged for one of the children's starters, but it was quickly corrected. All in all, it was a lovely night out. The venue was nicely decorated and very clean. Staff were courteous. We will definitely return.”

“First date night of 2024.. what a good choice, small independent business (which we always support) the place and atmosphere was really relaxed and the owner (sorry didn't catch his name) was very good, the food was excellent, the Devilled Gurnard was another level was the Monkfish & Sea Bass, the carrot cake with walnut ice cream was exceptional, all the food was delicious... I gave 3 stars for the service because we had empty beer bottles and dishes on the table nearly the whole time, I can only assume the servers as nice and polite as they all were possibly lack experience..in saying that we will definitely be going again ..the overall experience was a very good one 10/10 👏👏👏”

Ceviche was mixed in nicely with a plethora of healthy and fresh options. The price felt extremely reasonable and portions appropriate. I went with the sea bass ceviche. If you’re feeling hungry order an extra portion of fish. Also tip of the hat to the sweet potato and fried corn. Very Peruvian.”

“We finally got to visit this fishmongers that has a restaurant with some family over the NY breaks. As you would expect, the fish and seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. This is a real find in the area and will become a regular for us now. Tip: it’s highly recommend you book in advance as tables are limited and it was fully booked on the night we visited. Parking is limited as it’s right on the high street in the village.”
