“I often come here for lunch as I work nearby. The staff are always super friendly and the food is fabulous. They often will even remember what my regular orders are. They have the best Salmon for their sushi! I’ll also come here for dinner on occasion and am never disappointed. The atmosphere is a great blend of Japanese and Grand Rapids culture. If you are near the Grand Rapids downtown area I highly recommend stopping in for the scrumptious food!”

“I went up to this guy (I’ve read the reviews and yes it’s the same one everyone is talking about) behind the counter and asked if they had any soup today. Very disagreeable, he aggressively replied, “No we don’t have any soup, we’ll only have some when we get a chance to make it SIR.” He was decidedly rude with me from the very start. So I saw another guy behind the counter and asked him if they had soup. The first guy immediately swooped back in and sarcastically yelled at me, “SEE THE HUGE SIGN RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES, WE HAVE THREE SOUPS TODAY!” Well, he messed with the wrong guy. I then turned on my sarcasm and replied, “Gee guy, you just said there wasn’t any, but now there is. Why the attitude?” Not too under his breathe he told me to eff off. I just smiled back and nodded at him. Then I ordered gumbo while my pal Debbie ordered clam chowder. I sat down at the counter and the guy stood across from me with his arms crossed. Debbie asked him why he was intentionally giving me a hard time, and he immediately lied saying I was “screaming” at him. She called him out on his lies and he only gave her a condescending look. Finally we got our soups and went upstairs to eat. He called me an a-hole as I walked away. Adding insult to injury, the food was mediocre. So I called the Grand Rapids (Christkindl) Market and spoke with the lady at the front desk, and she was great. Really asking about the incident, and to describe the jerk. Well, guess who the jerk is? He’s the manager! Obviously abusing whatever authority his position grants him. But if you’re that consistently negative/openly hostile/nasty with customers, then why are you even there? *The owner did call me personally to apologize, explaining that the guy has been warned multiple times for his rotten behavior, but like mama use to say “Never listen to what people say, WATCH what they do.” And after ALL the negative reviews, his disgusting behavior, etc. he can somehow STILL be there, then any apologies come off as obligatory at best. We still had a great time at the Market, getting great sushi, crepes, etc. But we will NEVER EVER go back to Fish Lad’s. Worst/rudest service ever. I’m in my 50s and my pal Deb’s in her 70s and we’d never been treated so poorly and with so much disrespect. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.”

“11/8/2023 ☆☆☆Update☆☆☆ Dinner was absolutely fabulous 👌. Chicken soup, Carpaccio, and Roasted half Chicken! Delicious! This was my first visit, and most definitely not my last. Very enjoyable, healthy breakfast. Fresh and very "Tasty" Outstanding coffee! (How often is breakfast ruined with bad coffee, not here). Very nice setting in Ada Michigan. Ada Village is a quaint area with excellent restaurants and shops.”

I felt like it lacked sauce a little bit... the all meat pizza was actually pretty amazing. I really did enjoy alot. I unfortunately didn't get a picture of that pizza. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good pizza!”

“I’m a frequent visitor here and usually have one of their great scones and a cup of dark roast. My buddy has a pastry without fail. It’s a full service bakery with lots of variety and they also serve a great sandwiches and soup. And the have a full service coffee bar. Inside seating is very nice and outside seating is ok but on the curb of a busy city street.”

“I have ordered countless cases from GR Popcorn Co. throughout the years so when I needed popcorn,popcorn, called them to place a special order for 1 case of pink popcorn for a baby shower. I was told they had strawberry and watermelon available in pink. I chose strawberry and paid at the time of placing the order. I drove 45 miles to pick up my order so I opened the box to be sure that it it was what I ordered, but when I opened the box, the popcorn was red, or some shade of red. I told the lady that it was not pink and that I wanted it remade, but she said no because it was a special order, that if I wanted something different I would have to place another order and of course pay for that order. Now, I understand that it's a special order and that anything additional should be paid, however, if there is a special order, the customer should get what they ordered. I am so disappointed because I can't afford to buy another case @ $54 and even if I did, what am I going to do with all of the popcorn? I love their popcorn but I am extremely disappointed with their service. I am attaching a picture of the popcorn next to 2 different shades of red colored Crayola colored pencils and the 3 different shades of pink flowers so that you can see that for them to even call that color pink is absurd.”

“I’ve gotten Zoup a couple times and the quality has gone down each time. The food isn’t very fresh and the sandwiches are very sloppily assembled. The soup is good, but all other food is okay. It’s pretty quick if you need a speedy meal.”
