“This place looks like a hole-in-the wall--totally unassuming. BUT it epitomizes taqueria cuisine. I used to eat here all the time when I lived here and always loved the food. The Navy transferred me away in 2006 and I didn't have the opportunity to return until today. It's exactly the same. The neighborhood has gentrified and construction is happening all around, but Benny's is an anchor that holds Golden Hills to its roots. Sorry it took me so long to return, I'll try not to wait 17 years for my next visit.”

Dad's Original Scotch Oatmeal Cookies, originating from Scotland in 1900, came to California. Dad's Cookie Company soon embraced franchising, becoming a pioneer in the industry by 1927. During a visit to St. Louis in the same year, a salesman introduced Carpenter's Ice Cream in St. Louis to the flavor of the Scotch Oatmeal Cookie, leading to Mr. Carpenter obtaining the St. Louis franchise. In 1938, St. Louis baker Henry Renz Sr. acquired Dad's Cookie Company from Carpenter's Ice Cream. The Renz bakery on Louisiana Avenue and Keokuk Street became the new home of Dad's Cookie Company. Henry "Hank" Renz Jr. took the reins in 1949. In 1988, the Hastey brothers, another generation of the Renz family, inherited Dad's Cookie Company. Even now, the company offers fantastic cookies in their nostalgic 1930s spot. It's where all the magic happens. The coconut cookie was my favorite!”

While the street tacos were very good, I was disappointed that they didn't come with cheese, tomatoes, or sour cream! The cheese was $3 extra & I just felt like $18 plus tax for three tacos was a bit pricey! I'd be willing to go back & try their shrimp fajitas because they looked like they would be delicious! The fajitas seemed like they would be a better deal for $20 for two people.”

“We got Almond Croissants, Éclairs and Pear Tarts. The Almond Croissants were delicious but were either overcooked or stale as the dough was dry and hard. The filling on the inside is perfect and I loved that they filled it up all the way! The toasted almonds on top were also amazingly fragrant and flavorful. The only problem was that the overall experience was dry. Éclairs also had the same problem. Even though the dough looked white, they were hard and dry. The Pear Tart was perfect! Very flavorful! Maybe I'm imagining this part but the base had a great flavor and odor of almonds as well.”

“This place was absolutely lovely. Room was great, clean, and spacious. Had a small balcony overlooking a neighbouring café. We were 3 people staying in the room & they had brought extra towels up for us before we even had the chance to ask. You have to pre order breakfast for the following day, $10 a plate, it was delicious with everything freshly made. Upon checking out the owner even offered to take some photos of the group around various locations near by and emailed them to us straight away. Special shout out to the fact that they have two ply toilet paper… been staying in a lot of hotels this trip & this was the only place so far with real toilet paper.”

“This small pastry shop inside Skyview Mall has such delicious cream puffs!! I ordered one with the cookies and cream. Very unique cream puffs, never seen them so huge!! The staff were friendly and the shop, although small, has a cute aesthetic. They have a wall with a cool story about the history of Beard Papa. This was a nice surprise find within the mall.”

“This restaurant is horrible. The food is made of the absolute cheapest ingredients and tastes awful. One of those places you want to give a 0 star review, but can’t because it’s not an option. If you know what Thai food is supposed to taste like, DO NOT COME HERE! Everything was the horrible, we got two different noodle dishes and the Tom Yum soup. First time visitor of Colorado and we stayed in the Longmont area to hike the Rockies. After a tough hike we were left with few dining options on a weeknight and this was one of the few non-chain restaurants open. It’s so important to support small businesses, however this is not one of them!! While Julie was friendly when I was ordering, but things seemed a bit hectic when I went into get our meal. The restaurant doesn’t have dine in options, but it was dirty and messy inside. Our meal took longer than expected but Julie was nice enough. After I paid and tipped, I was provided a box to carry out my items which included a soup. I was super careful but it’s a disaster waiting to happen. By the time we arrived to our hotel and started eating we realized the food tasted off. The Tom Yum soup was one of the worst soups I have ever tasted. It was made with the absolute crappiest broth concentrate - not authentic and it tasted SO SO BAD. The fake sour taste and the strange sweetness was completed by old tasting mushrooms and uncooked cherry tomatoes. Whyyyy????? The noodle dishes we ordered were also awful! We got the Pad Kee Mao and the Pad See Ew. The Pad See Ew was inedible, every bite was worse than the last. The sauce was horrible and inauthentic (like a dollar store version of sweet & sour?), and the chicken has a strange chewy texture. It was completely indelible. The Pad Kee Mao was slightly better but the chicken seemed old and dry. We were able to muster about 4-5 bites. We barely ate any of the food - we ended up having leftover bread and a few apples for dinner. If you want decent food, just go anywhere else. My experience was all around horrible, and when I got ahold of the restaurant, I was unable to get a refund. Absolutely not worth the time, money and effort to eat this food. Honest rating is 0/5 stars.”
