“While visiting the ruins of the Roman baths in Baia, I saw, at the southern end of the park, the nice terrace of a restaurant. We decided to have lunch there. This is how we arrived at Locanda Atipica. We were asked if we had a reservation - so if you go there, it's good to book in advance. The interior is quite cozzy, chic. I noticed quite a large number of waiters, so customers are not bored with a long wait, but they need to decide quickly what they want to order. The food is very tasty, full of goodness, well prepared, I must admit. Probably, the restaurant tends to receive Michelin stars, which can explain the small weight of the portions, as well as their "peppery" price. On the negative side, a certain waiter left us with an unpleasant impression, because he took our plates from in front of us while we were still eating... It was as if it was an "invitation" to leave the place as soon as possible. At the allegedly high level, from all points of view, of the restaurant, something like this is unacceptable. Therefore, a more thorough training of the staff is required. Just as it would be desirable to eliminate a practice that is still quite widespread in the region: dishes without a clearly displayed price, which were presented orally by waiters, or written on a blackboard, but still without a price. Beyond the less pleasant aspects, there remains the experience of a chic restaurant, where the food - though spartan in proportion and inversely proportional relative to the price - is delicious.”

“We went to this restaurant because it seemed to have a good reputation. I found it quite hard, because there are no signs to it, it is necessary to ask the residents of the area. We didn't have a reservation, but we were accepted, anyway there were only customers at another table. The first impression was that the fame of the place is given by the splendor of the surrounding landscape: the sea, Cape Miseno, the perspective towards the Sorrento Peninsula and the island of Capri. Magnificent indeed, you can completely forget about food and drink. But it's still a restaurant. What was unexpected was that we did not receive a menu, there was no such thing, the offer was recited to us by a lady who was going to serve us. Anyway, a menu establishes a contractual form with the customer, who can see what he will order, what the product he will swallow is made of, how much it will cost. We couldn't take a whole bottle of wine, unfortunately, because one of us was going to drive the car and the other was having medical treatment. I only asked for two glasses, but the quantity was one of austerity. Beyond these and other small aspects that do not affect the quality of the food, it can be said that it was a good experience. (Another small observation, but valid for many waiters: it would be desirable for the customer not to be asked what he wants to order next, as long as he is still eating. Even less if his mouth is full and it is a bit embarrassing to answer in that posture). We got a number of seafood specialties, different from what we have eaten at other restaurants along the coasts of Italy. I must point out that the pasta, in particular, was fabulous! I also had dessert, so I could compare the Caprese and Millefoglie cakes with those tasted in many other places. The final price was around the anticipated amount, about double that of a common restaurant.”

“So we walk in and they ask us where we'd like to be seated ( group of 3 ). We pick a regular table for 4. Mind you the restaurant is empty aside for another 3 patrons sitting at a table for 4. A couple of minutes later another waiter comes in ( i guess the head waiter) and moves my wife's chair closer to mine and my daughter's saying: let's make this a bit more cozy. Then he starts chiding the other waiter for giving us a table for 4, and then separates the now unoccupied half so that he can seat more patrons ( again the restaurant is almost empty) Fast forward 30 minutes later, they bring us the food and it was barely fitting on the table. Our feet are constantly touching underneath cause the table is meant for 2 not 3. The restaurant is still empty. We ask if we can move the other half of the table back so that we can have more room and enjoy ourselves. He said "no not possible". We finished our meals and left. The table next to us was still empty. Out of the 6 tables around us, only 1 had patrons. Check the picture.... What a stupid way to treat a customer. You gained nothing, lost my future business, and now you have a bad review. Was it worth it?”

“A decent spot for bowls for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans alike, on the pricier side with smaller portions. We ordered the rice bowls with tofu, wakame, edamame and different sauces. Not much to say other than that there was very little tofu, and our orders were mixed up (wrong sauces and toppings). The bowls tasted good, no complaints there — but 10-11 euros for a rice bowl with two tablespoons of tofu was a bit egregious, as we were hoping for a bit more protein with this meal. I’m not sure how the other poke portions are, so this might not be the case for other protein options.”

“Even if the space looks like from the 1980s, the pizza was really excellent ( I had Diavola). Nice lady who took the order and pizza was ready in less than 10-12 minutes. I paid 10e for pizza, water, and espresso, so it's a really good deal. During my visit, it was cash only, but I would definitely recommend it to stop by after the Ercolano visit.”

“Very bad! Came to this place as it was recommended to me as "the best sushi in town"! Came here the atmosphere is good but tables are one next to eachother and there is no personal space what's or ever. The sushi falls apart as soon as you touch it and the fried rice is way overcooked and on top of everything they I served me expired beer! Waiters were nice though. It is not recommended: it is not the best value for the overpriced dishes you get. Molto male! Sono venuto in questo posto perché me lo avevano consigliato come "il miglior sushi in città"! L'atmosfera è buona ma i tavoli sono uno vicino all'altro non lasciando nessuna privacy! Il sushi cadeva a pezzi al solo toccarlo e il riso fritto era scotto. E infine per mettere la ciliegia sulla torta mi hanno servito una birra scaduta da 5 giorni. I camerieri comunque sono stati cortesi. Prezzi alti e qualità bassa. Non lo consiglio”

“Incredible dinner experience in Sorrento, and definitely a hidden gem. We arrived as a group of 4 and were seated immediately by friendly waiters who graciously offered us English menus. We ordered fried pizza starters, which came quickly, cooked to perfection, and served with delicious tomato sauce. The assorted fried items were phenomenal: a generous helping of crispy zucchini fries, and deep fried stuffed squash flower were the crowd favourites and a great highlight. For our main, we shared the eggplant parmigiana pizza and a fried pizza. Both blew us away -- we highly recommend having a slice or two to pair with some Prosecco ;) Thanks so much, Lieve, for a truly memorable dinner in Sorrento!”

“Really lovely and friendly restaurant, menu in English although you do need some basic Italian to get by. I managed to explain myself quite well despite my very poor Italian. The waiter who only spoke Italian wasn’t put off by it and made some useful suggestions about choice of wine and deserts. Only at the end of the meal did we discover the owner spoke a bit of English. The food was top quality, the fish was fresh, spaghetti with sauce delicious and deserts (pistachio ice cream and rum baba) were really good. They did sit us in a different part of the restaurant from the locals who were watching football but came over to check on us often. I can’t fault it, we had most enjoyable evening. There is a guarded car park round the corner. All in all an excellent little place”
