Felt like I walked into a modern, more spacious izakaya- with the bar out front as I walked in and was met with Tortoro greeting customers. Loved it and hoped the food would be reasonably good. Indeed, food surpassed my expectations. The Unagi hotpot was delicious, I had to keep from drooling over it. Smelt and tasted so good. Hubby ordered kaki katsu set menu - with 3 beautifully fried oysters and bowl of rice, miso soup, rolled omelette, mushrooms and pickles. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. Service was courteous and with a smile. Drinks were great. We enjoyed lychee cocktail & Okinawa highball. “We were in the area and it was lunch time so we gave this place a try on a Saturday. The place wasn't particularly busy as we arrived just a little before midday. The food was better than expected. The Hainanese Chicken Rice was good as the chilli was correctly made. Many other restaurants either made the chilli too sweet or tasteless. The Pan Mee soup was nice also. The only negative I have is the sambal chilli. It was a bit salty to my liking. We might try the main dishes next time as they look delicious.”

“We preordered the winter melon soup and pi pa duck. When asked if we could have half a duck they replied no as there were no other preorders to share with us. Alright, fine. When we arrived, we were served by an older male staff who looked very uninterested. When asked if they still make the olive vegetable minced pork tofu, he replied in a condescending way as if I couldn't read. He was later seen sitting on the next table looking at his phone... The table next to us knew one of the other staff, so they got the preferential treatment when their plates were piled up with bones and food wastes. Our plates plates were also piled up with the duckbones, but we were left to continue piling up the mountain.... no service whatsoever.... ok I got it... we were not regulars... When the dinner was served, we found that a part of the winter melon was a bit bitter but the rest of the soup was fine. The duck was just a bit too much for us when we wanted to try other dishes. Overall, the food quality was ok but nothing outstanding. However, when we were about to leave. The 3rd table arrived and asked if there were any pi pa duck. The kitchen said yes. Now, I thought it was meant to be reordered and we were told no one else wanted so we had to have it whole! I pointed this out as I was paying and the lady looked at me for a few seconds, and said business has been a bit quiet... goodness me... you made us ate the whole duck just to increase your sales... This was exactly the reason why your business was not that great!”

“We dined here for dinner and ordered a couple of things to share. They had a deal where if you ordered over $40 you can get a peached ice tea for free. So we ordered the King Sized Donkatsu which came with sauce and rice, corn cheese to share and a Boneless fried chicken soon tofu combo. The soontofu we ordered was the Kimchi soon-tofu. This was flavourful, however it had a little sweet element to it, it was not spicy as I was hoping it would be. The egg was very overcooked though, which is a downside of it. The sotbap was nice and had a crunchy layer too. As it came with the fried chicken, the chicken was coated nicely and was crispy, even with the soy garlic sauce. The donkatsu was crunchy and it was huge, my partner enjoyed it.”
