“I had the best time! What an experience. I went with my son's school on a trip and I'm intending on going back ASAP with the rest of the family. The staff were magnificent, interactive with the children and made us feel so welcome with a wealth of knowledge about each thing. There are plenty of interactive activities. If you're a home ed family this is a wonderful place to visit too. Lots of parking and easy to find”

Hardknott Roman Fort & Thermae.
4.8
( 8 reviews )

Hardknott Pass, Holmrook CA19 1TH, United Kingdom

“Roman Fort Ruins. The hardknott pass leading to the location is at times a hard drive. Not to be taken lightly... Especially if the weather is icy or even heavy rain , the roads are difficult enough. The Fort however is good. It was very boggy on the day and windy. Its an exposed location so dress accordingly to the weather conditions. Keep you're dogs on the lead at all times. There's usually sheep roaming around. We saw a dog chasing the sheep. Not good ! Enjoy the Fort 👍”

Elvet Hill Rd, South Rd, Durham DH1 3TH, United Kingdom

“Interesting and authentic place to visit, a lot of very old exhibits and modern exhibits with a twist that are based on history and culture. Opportunities to dress in the clothing of the exhibits and interactive activities too. Large print guide to the museum was available which I think was a very nice touch. Gift shop is lovely and very reasonably priced, also this place is FREE entry so a little donation in the box is well deserved”

“Wonderful place. The gardens are a must see. So many different areas, lots of thought have gone into the gardens, grounds, areas. Wonderful. You kust feed the carp fish! Tea rooms - Afternoon Tea was delicious. The ironmongers, pottery staff and the staff within the areas were most friendly and welcoming”

Rascals Party & Play Centre
4.4
( 16 reviews )
Open until 06:00 PM

Capital Trade Park, Unit 4, Walton-le-Dale, Preston PR5 4AR, United Kingdom

“Brought our children and my sisters children here for some indoor fun on a rainy day in the summer holidays. The place is quite big with all different sections including a big slide and a little electric quad track and even a football area upstairs. You can buy tokens for the quads at reception (and can pay on card for this - better than needing a £1 coin as you usually do for these in other places). There's an area for toddlers and it has loads of bouncers to take to the tables if you wanted to sit with a coffee while playing with your baby. Toddler/baby area itself is quite good too, has a little slide and climbing sections and also has a little sensory area for the younger babies too. Overall, the kids (18m, 5y, 5y & 7y) all had a great time! We will be coming back more regularly now :)”

Oakham Farm, Portbury Ln, Portbury, Bristol BS20 7SP, United Kingdom

“What an extraordinary, unusual and wonderful museum collection! Like nothing I've ever seen before. So eclectic. A magnificent coming together of the everyday and the rare and special. The Oakham treasures include an astonishingly large collection of signage, tractors, cars and motorbikes, a beer can collection, shaving mugs, vintage electrical goods, stuff, stuff, and more stuff. Many wonderful early 20th century shop display cabinets full of vintage goods of every description.”

4.3
( 16 reviews )

10 Wellington Rd, Coalbrookdale, Telford TF8 7DX, United Kingdom

“The museum is good, although the stand out water learning and play display in the centre of the main room doesn't work as intended and is becoming a bit of a pink elephant. We have the iron bridge museum's pass and would recommend this to those who live locally.”

Royal Signals Museum
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Open until 04:30 PM

Royal School of Signals, Blandford Camp, Blandford Forum DT11 8RH, United Kingdom

“I always try to see a museum of some sort when I come to the UK and a relative told me about this one. Tucked away in Blandford Forum at the HQ of the Royal Signals Regiment is a gem of museum relating to those folk in the Army who are responsible for the communications systems. It starts with fire beacons and progresses to the Internet via telegraph, phone, radio, satellite and computer networks. Fortunately for me there are also a ton of motorcycles and even one Willys MB Jeep. It has a lovely little cafe on site with delicious home baked cake, great tea and friendly staff. We were there for a couple of hours and it would easily bear a second visit. It is on an Army base so I would advise you to bring a passport for ID.”

Magic Alley
4.5
( 8 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

1st Floor, Bell Ct, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 6EX, United Kingdom

“We visited the Crystal Kingdom yesterday with our 3 children, ages 7, 8 and 10. All 3 children were given age appropriate quests which is such a good idea, keeps them entertained moving through the attraction whilst waiting to meet Father Christmas. Plenty of characters in the attraction too to help them complete their quests. My children were so quiet meeting Father Christmas which means he is suitably impressive, I think he is the real deal! Everyone received a gift and all were very pleased with their selections. Throughout the attraction, it was so beautifully decorated, we can see the team have worked so incredibly hard to put this together. Thank you from The Dowlers for such a lovely time.”

Threlkeld Quarry & Mining Museum
4.5
( 8 reviews )

Quarry, Threlkeld, Keswick CA12 4TT, United Kingdom

“You don't need to have an interest in quarrying or machines to enjoy. The scale and array of the equipment is fascinating and if you wish there is lots to read in the museum. The train ride is a treat, made all the more so by the team member who welcomed us on board.”

Polperro Model Village
4.3
( 8 reviews )
Open until 05:30 PM

Mill Hill, Polperro, Looe PL13 2RP, United Kingdom

“Superb model village. All the houses, streets, and sceneries were really impressive and packed of details. You need to spend some time on each of them to appreciate how much hard work had been put in to make it as realistic as possible. I really enjoyed it and was very lucky to encounter such a beautiful orange butterfly.”

Royal Courts Of Justice
4.5
( 10 reviews )
Open until 04:30 PM

Strand, London WC2A 2LL, United Kingdom

“Really fascinating place where you get to see the court system in action - you have to go through airport style security to enter, but it's completely free and once you're in you're free to explore at your own pace. It's a real cathedral to the legal system, and the scale and beauty of the building are awe inspiring. You can also observe cases freely, though we lacked the confidence to do so!”

Selly Manor Museum
4.6
( 16 reviews )

Maple Rd, Bournville, Birmingham B30 2AE, United Kingdom

“It is a very well preserved Tudor style house, it even has dresses from the period”

Caister Castle
4.4
( 8 reviews )

Castle Ln, Caister-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth NR30 5SN, United Kingdom

“Great car and bike collection, very friendly staff. Expensive entry cost, but ok if you are into cars. The tea room is a bit dated with a very limited range of snacks and it is also expensive.”

Littledean Jail
4.3
( 8 reviews )

Church St, Littledean, Nr. Cinderford GL14 3NL, United Kingdom

“A quaint museum with plenty of parking. Most of the exhibition is interesting, showcasing both the history of criminal incarnation and how media attitudes have altered over time There are two big negatives. The first is that there are star wars, ET, Oceans Eleven and other film exhibits scattered throughout the floor space without clear delineation. The second is that the museum only accepts cash payments. Overall, it is well worth the visit and the entrance fee.”

Sturminster Newton Mill
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

Newton Hill, Sturminster Newton DT10 2DQ, United Kingdom

“Fascinating personal tour by the current Miller. Very knowledgeable and interesting areas pointed out. Saw markings left to ward off witches and evil spirits, beams from the 1400's and the miller's workshop with all the tools etc left by previous millers over the centuries, including an horseshoe dated to the 1300's.”
