“I love this place. It is always a pleasure to shop there. The cheese selections are unbelievable. Just recently I found that they have freshly made sandwiches upon request in the cheese section. The sandwiches are top-notch , served on their absolutely fabulous baguettes and much better than you would get at the average deli. Not expensive either. Try them if you want a real surprise. You can order your cheese variations at the same time. They have more than one person behind the counter. Also, the salads are as good as the sandwiches. What a nice surprise.”

“I was going to be in Oshkosh on business & was told of Hughes Chocolates by a friend who had been gifted it years earlier. She told me the meltaways were so smooth & creamy, she hadn't had anything like them since. She asked if I would stop & pick her up some (dark chocolate) , which of course I did, I obviously picked myself up a box (milk chocolate). When I opened mine & had my first taste of Hughes Chocolate my first thought was maybe I'm just a bit of a chocolate snob. Since I don't eat chocolate often I expect the chocolate I do purchase to be exceptional. This unfortunately was not I would categorize it as average (not Hershey bar average but candy company average). Yes the chocolate coating was smooth but the interior was gritty. When I asked my friend who recommended Hughes she said the quality was not as good as she remembered. It's a quaint business model. The staff when I said I had never been there kind of rolled their eyes & the girl asked do you at least have an idea what you want & another employee yelled I can help someone who knows what they want. So customer service I would say was not a best first impression. The stairs going to the basement are very narrow & steep. Being a person with mobility limitations it was a bit frightening going down the stairs. Having an option for persons with disabilities would be very helpful. The pricing is very fair & the smell is absolutely amazing. There was a very courteous gentleman at the entrance door opening it for customers and managing the flow of customer traffic who was exceptionally nice & friendly. “Willamette Valley Pie Company has some delicious pie and a bunch of other really cool things for sale in the store. There are fun gifts and things for yourself. It is family owned and operated. They have fun journals, note cards, and stickers. If you like to cook, they have a lot of custom sauces and seasonings that you won’t find just anywhere. They have a cute strawberry shortcake kit for two that you can take home and have for dessert later. It's a great little idea for bringing a dessert to a friends for dinner. They have some fresh pastries that you can take home or bring to a gathering as well. There's muffin and pancake mixes to make your own goodies and fresh baked pies to take home, along with fresh jams and syrups as well. The marion-berry shortcake looked incredible. I love me some marion-berry, it's so tasty! They also have a freezer section so you can take home some berries to make smoothies. They have some fresh local berries ready to eat in the fridge and the blueberries here are amazing. Do you love homemade popcorn? They have a variety of popcorn kernels you can pop at home and there are gourmet toppings to add to the popcorn as well. If I was staying longer, I would have tried a lot more things. There was candy, flavored nuts, crackers, and pickled veggies that looked so fresh and delicious. Some fun cook books too! A great pasta section with lots of different types of pasta to try with some fancy olive oils as well. Are you into making sourdough bread? They have a mix ready to go and I am sure it is amazing. All in all, this place has so many things I want. I could spend the day exploring all the goodies here!”

“I was killing time and stopped in Acme Comics to fulfill my curiosity because I'd never been inside a comic book store before. Jermaine was super friendly and informative. Let me tell you, this store did not disappoint. From new comics to vintage and everything in between, there was nothing lacking in this space! My mom said it reminded her of when she could go to the store and by 12 cent comics. Jermaine shared that the store had been there for 40 years! It was cool to know that I'd been able to patronize such an establishment! I hope they continue to thrive for 40 more.”

I asked two different people about 10 questions each about the history of the store, hot sauce ingredients, why is this even so popular?? I tried four different hot sauces and bought a few as gifts.
