“The Obermuhle deserves a rating of at least five stars. My family has been visiting this restaurant for years and each visit is a wonderful experience. First we come to the menu, to this I will say "short and sweet". Personally, I don't like to go to a restaurant where there is too much choice. The Obermuhle knows what they cook best and that is meat, meat, meat. In the middle of the open kitchen a large open grill allows for the preperation of beek, pork, lamb and fish dishes. A variety of tasty side dishes are listed for choice with the meat dish. The wine list is abundant but my favorite drink is "sekt" with a homemade holunder syrup. Other then the food, the atmosphere of the restaurant is down to earth and quaint. Old wooden tables and chairs and benches fill the courtyard and interior of the restaurant. The decoration is vintage old farmer style. The friendly servers are quick to greet and take your order. The prices are standard for the quality of the food and service. All in all the Obermuhle is a worth the journey to the small town of Hennenthal.”

The food and wine were excellent, served by fast efficient staff and with real passion for good food and drink. We may have let ourselves be lead a bit by the maitre'd, but given the quality, I would go back, but be a bit more careful in my choices. The antipatsa starter was a stream of excellent small dishes served with a platter of charcuterie and salad, while my main steak was fabulous. The cuisine was real Italian, with little nods to Asian flavours, small additions that would be frowned upon in Rome. Well worth a visit, but book to avoid disappointment.”

“Had a great experience here, we went for the hot stones and cook your own meat, was a large group of us and has a group it was great fun. Not sure as a couple it would be all that exciting. So the waiter bought us out salad which if you like loads of it you'll be fine, for me there was just too much. Then for mains they bring out hot flat stones on which you cook your chosen meat, we had beef and shrimps, you just cook your meat how you like, as the stones get too cold they are replaced. At the time there was a wine festival in the square and the atmosphere was wonderful. The group had coffee and creme brulee all of which were really good”
