“Definetely recommend booking ahead as this place is very busy. No wonder-it is THE PLACE TO BE for a great atmosphere, professional staff and amazing food. The service was absolutely amazing, attentive, explained everything we needed to know before choosing from the menu. Always ready to fill up our glasses and to ask if we are happy with everything. I ordered a glass of wine and then we aksed for the whole bottle however the wine did not taste the same-probably because it was freshly opened and did not have a chance to breathe. The waitress offered to open another bottle with a smile on her face. We did not want it and kept the one that was already opened but it was a good test to see the reaction. The steak was amazing and if you are a veggie like me, do not worry, there are dishes to choose from. So, all in all, if you are looking for the WHOLE EXPERIENCE it is 100% recommended-the best in Alkmaar (so far :).”

“After entering we waited at least 5 minutes before someone came next to us. The manager gave his staff a lot of punishment in front of us. We were then sent to a table for 2 people even though we had reserved for 4. Then we were dumped in the back somewhere. When no one had come to us for a drink after fifteen minutes, a whole staff in the kitchen really irritated me with the way they talked to each other, we decided to leave and then had a delicious meal at IJzer. So big minus points for the bears. My first and last time with the bears unfortunately”

“I’ve been there together with the group, and maybe the group menu was the issue, but I didn’t enjoy neither food nor the atmosphere. We’ve got a table on the -1 floor in the tiny room just next to the open kitchen: not the best place to relax. Food was mainly mediocre. Steak was to chewy and fatty, soups (both vegetarian and crab) were watery, dessert was ok but presentation was bad. I only liked gnocchi, but they were not classic gnocchi (fried) No, I can’t recommend the place.”

“We were really looking forward to trying this place, as the menu looked good and the atmosphere was cool. It was a Monday night, pretty dead and the service from the server was not great, we rarely got checked on by her and we would have ordered more drinks if she had. We chose the 4 course chefs choice. The first two courses were really rich and could have been shared by two people - the buratta was covered in a really sweet jam and it was too much with the rich flavor of the buratta. The tartar was also very rich and could have been shared, the balance was off and the richness could have been offset with something else. Our main course was the most delicious, a perfectly tender and tasty pork. That made it more worth while. The desert was good, but I can’t remember what it was now… it fell a little flat for us. A bit disappointed for the reviews and being recommended by the Michelin guide.”
