“We had food from the 'before 5pm menu', it's supposed to be £9.95, I think it is. We were overcharged, we didn't notice (my hubby paid while I helped a relative to negotiate the steps) when we got home i had to ring but they did refund the extra £6 on the phone. Still I'm glad I noticed. The food looked lovely. Gammon was nice, pineapple not grilled like I've had in other places, and it cames with 1000s of peas which weren't mentioned on the menu(I checked, I hate them, I usually ask not to have them). Hubby has fish, again it looked impressive but he said it had no taste. Loads of batter to find the fish. The chips left an oily taste in my mouth as well as being overcharged. The staff were pleasant and helpful and handled the refund no issues saying the promotion hadn't worked on the till, though it took forever to get an answer on the phone, it rang and rang and rang. So maybe check your bill. I won't be visiting again.”

“We had a lovely evening at the Seagers restaurant, all the staff were excellent from start to finish & the food was even better. The food prices are on the high side but you're definitely paying for what you get here. The restaurant is very spacious and not too loud when we were in. The only negative would be the female toilets - the lock on the left door on the cubicle doesn't work all the time so if anyone else comes in/ opens or closes the other doors in the female toilets the lock opens and the door opens with isn't convenient and the taps aren't fitted properly as shown in the video attached.”

“I am honestly blown away by the quality of Dexter's. I've wanted to dine here for as long as they have been open, but never really found the time, so when I was gifted a voucher by my partner's parents, "overjoyed" seems minimising. At last, I had an excuse to make the time. After getting all dressed up, we arrived and were seated at a gorgeous table underneath fairy lights, served water, and presented with menus and a wine list - if I hadn't downloaded the menu previously from their website I would have struggled to choose! Everything sounded delicious, but eventually we settled on starters of short rib and crispy calamari (the short-rib taking top prize); mains of ribeye steak with parmesan-truffle fries, house salad, garlic & shallot butter, and an extra side of mac&cheese; desserts of trifle and Biscoff sundae; and finally a round of decaf coffee with salted chocolate truffles. The wine (an Argentinian Malbec I had never tried) was a perfect compliment to the meal, the food was exquisitely presented, and the two servers who took care of us (Sophie and Mickey) were kind, efficient, and treated us with every consideration. The atmosphere was soft and romantic, the music was perfect, and I'll be remembering this night for as long as I live. I will absolutely be coming back, this wasn't just a meal - it was an experience like no other.”

“Came here for a Christmas dinner but it was quite disappointed. Service: the table staff are friendly and helpful however this is different for staff behind the counter. I was keen to order Mediterranean fish soup but when I asked what’s in the soup your staff is not happy to answer my questions. This is a basic thing and they don’t even asked whether you are allergic to any ingredients. Food: Ordered the fish soup but to be honest it is just a tomatoes based soup with a lot of onions and peppers. I have been told there are some fish inside but only two pieces of mussels nothing else. All you can taste are onions and peppers. Avoid! On main courses I ordered tuna steak and all I can taste is the salt. It’s very salty and I have to keep drinking water. Bear in mind this is a restaurant that don’t serve tap water. You have to pay for bottle water. Overall: As other have mentioned this is an overrated restaurant with simple food. While I think the seafood is fresh, it was just not properly prepared.”

“Le Monde is a Cardiff institution, and I can understand why. Service, food, wine, and atmosphere are all spot on. Selection and quality of seafood and meat is hard to beat anywhere else in the city. The wine list is very extensive. Highly recommend a visit for any special occasion, or as a treat.”

“Good food, but at that price point, underwhelming. Service was excellent and there was nothing wrong for the food, except for the price. One would expect much higher quality and attention to detail for the prices they are charging. Overall a good experience, made a lot bwtter by the staff. Tight, small tables though. I think with some improvements these guys will do exceptionally well. Looking forward to seeing more.”

“First time here under the new owners on Saturday. Were told there would be a 30 to 40 minute wait, which we accepted as we had not booked, so ordered some food and prepared for a wait. After about an hour I asked how much longer and was tools the ticket hadn't printed out in the kitchen so our order had not been started. It would be a further 15 to 20 minutes. As we were hungry we said OK. When the food arrived my Hunter's Chicken looked very nice, although served on a piece of slate with the chips (didn't look home made) in a little bucket and not really enough space to tip them out. I would prefer a more traditional plate. My wife's Carbonara however looked like a disaster area. Supposed to be in a creamy sauce with white wine, it was just floating in a sea of oil or grease and not a sign of any cheese and lacking in taste. We were offered a 15% discount, but as we had already missed the movie we had booked decided to leave. We left without eating and doubt we will ever go back. Ended up in a Brains pub, getting served a lovely meal for a lower price and much faster service. Sad because this used to be one of our favourite places before the Pandemic.”
