El Che Steakhouse & Bar
4.6
( 8 reviews )

845 W Washington Blvd, Chicago, IL 60607, United States

“This is a nice little spot in west loop, the food was good and the service was outstanding. The highlight for me was the wine, they have a great South American selection of wines and the Pet Nats are specially outstanding. We had a reservation at 7:30 but where not seated until 8:00 which makes sense since it was very busy specially on a Tuesday night and we had a large group so that’s completely understandable. The food was good however I personally feel that it was a little under seasoned to my taste. Other then that great experience.”

Jc's Ristorante

8650 Joliet Rd, McCook, IL 60525, United States

“My wife and I were there with friends and had a wonderful time. The food was not only good but plentiful. The service was good and atmosphere was good because the restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. They put us in the back away from the front bar area where it was crowded and noisy . The six of us were able to carry on conversations without any trouble. We will definitely go back!”

“The place is a vibe!! The inside is beautiful with a flame grill so you can watch your tomahawk steak being cooked. The food is divine with delicious herbs and flavors added seasoned to perfection. And may I add the drinks are exquisite and decadent.”

“Tables are uncomfortably close together - not the place if you’re looking for something intimate. Place is loud and it’s hard to hear each other. Service was great, though. For two people we ordered: Jalapeño biscuit Japanese eggplant Onion rings Broccoli Tagliatelle crab pasta All were great, though portions are super small for the price. If you’re trying to get full be prepared to rack up a bill. Our least favorite was crab pasta - it was salty and had little crab in it. The highlight was the dessert, which had chocolate cake, peanut, ice cream, and chocolate syrup. We devoured it.”

Buona Terra Ristorante

3608 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60618, United States

“First try after hearing a few people say this place was great, and I am so happy we tried it!! The start of the meal with warm bread and a delicious garlic pesto is mouth watering. Overall, all of our dishes were SO Delicious! Excellent, fresh homemade pasta cooked Al Dente. I recommend trying the grilled calamari - so much flavor and cooked perfectly. I would come back for the Ciacio e Pepe again (which my husband ordered) and I had the corkscrew pasta with Parmesan cream, peas, prosciutto and mushrooms. Also very delicious! My friend tried the special with butternut squash and shrimp scampi- the shrimp was giant and so fresh! Cooked perfectly. Only thing i would say is get there early, we arrived at 5pm and by 5:15 every single table was taken! The restaurant gets very loud also. Service was very friendly and food came out quickly without feeling rushed. Desserts were also wonderful- I’d you have room left!”

Drew's On Halsted

3201 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60657, United States

“Went in for the $47 Mimosa breakfast, and it was fantastic! Absolutely delicious mimosas and delicious food. The wait staff was so friendly and attentive. I feel like I got my money's worth for sure. I would definitely go here again and you haven't been, go give it a try! They prefer cash but if a card is used, they only take 1 for the table (no split checks). This wasn't an issue for us, but FYI for others.”

“Made a reservation for 7 at 5:45 on a Friday night. We were seated immediately upon arrival at 5:30. The servers were all very nice and fast, never an empty water glass on the table. The food came out fast and hot. Everyone thoroughly loved their dishes. My braised beef gnocchi was outstanding. The beef was so tender. Portion sizes are quite ample. Wine selection is very broad. Paid street parking available until 8pm then it becomes free. May be hard to find a spot at times.”

Erie Cafe

536 W Erie St, Chicago, IL 60654, United States

“Loved the atmosphere here, old school and classic. We enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and the lamb chops. Personally I wouldn’t recommend the steak here: medium quality of the meat and not so great in terms of seasoning and flavor.”

The Florentine

151 W Adams St, Chicago, IL 60603, United States

“What a magical dining experience! Chef Jason Hedin has revamped the menu to exceed all expectations. His culinary talent shines bright at this metropolitan, city-center location. Historical lobby provides the place to meet before finding grand staircases to the east. 2nd floor restaurant has a beautiful bar & service staff was so warm to us. Thank you to Alexis for guiding us. You were lovely! Chef has turned the simple beet salad into a journey. The beef carpaccio steps easily over those abroad. Cornbread… yes, cornbread, lives with flavor. Lobster & caviar pizza can change your evening. Heirloom tomatoes with a photogenic touch. Head-on prawns are drizzled with a sauce quite literally addictive to the tongue & the polenta alongside has been, foamed for textures sake. And then came the pasta. Linguini & clams were so fresh it was as if the purveyor pulled them himself that afternoon. Just wait until you realize what risotto can behave like with cherries & pistachio; it could change your life. For veggie lovers, and those who seek umami, the mushroom pasta has true passion cooked right in; the broth, ramen aficionados rejoice. Hiding under seared sea scallops is a sausage so succulent you could simply salivate (that was fun). Whole lobster has been halved & filled with a textual crumb before being beautifully roasted & plated alongside tomatoes on the vine. And then came the meats. My god, yes. It reminds you why Chicago is a food city in the 1st place. We understand how to curate carnal cuts. Spatchcocked chickens with a juice like you could never have cooked at home. The spare ribs were my partner’s favorite bite of the night. But then the beef. For me. Primal slabs of meat so well aged the flavor walks across your mouth for you. A 2 inch thick steak that needs no ruler or scale; all 40 ounces are obvious & accounted for. A behemoth & a beaut, sliced for the table. You nibble your lip while reaching for the closest knife. What appears to be the best steak you’ve ever seen is now set within reach. Stab it closer to yourself. Truly enjoy it with sauces served to satiate. A French reduction in triplicate could be the winning addition to my already favorite bite of the night. The beef was better with it & I was already so proud. Every nibble of the evening was better paired with a wine. My lord, they have options for bottles. From $40 to $1400, your favorite varietal is found. Get a white & a red. Why choose? Let your worries wash away. When they walk in dessert you realize that we may need to be rolled away. Macaroons that pop & sundae served table side. He has recreated magic shell for your amusement. Panatone wins the last bite. A wildly spiced cajeta has something my tastebuds have never experienced before; I want you to know it as well. With that, we had to stand up & say goodbye to the best dinner I’ve ever had. This is why good food matters. So we may have the memories & to experience life. Thank you, chef! I’ll never forget this experience.”

Bulls Tavern

“Went for an early dinner when it was slower. Great attentive service! Steaks were cooked just right, the garlic aoili with the fries was so good, dessert cookie skillet was a classic. Highly recommend going at an off-peak time to enjoy the ambiance”

Reyes Steak House

“Very delicious food, friendly services, and no dump charge like staff support services. It's more like Italian cuisine than steak house to me. There were fewer different beef cuts, but anyway, everything came out so delicious. Best grilled calamari in the area. Steak came out perfect temp, tasty, and big portions. Very good classic cocktails in the area as well. The only thing that isn't okay to me is that the online menu wasn't updated.”

Francois Frankie

222 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60606, United States

“Francois Frankie, an upscale French-themed restaurant located in Chicago, proved to be a delightful pre-show dinner spot during our recent visit. Despite the restaurant operating at full capacity, the staff managed to accommodate us near their uniquely charming revolving bar after a brief wait, with sincere apologies from what seemed to be a manager for our patience. The ambiance at Francois Frankie is a beautiful blend of elegance and humor. The dramatic decor and lighting set the stage for the culinary experience to come, evoking the sophistication associated with French cuisine without being overly pretentious. It's a balance that Francois Frankie executes with grace and a dash of whimsy. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, recommending a cocktail and promptly taking our orders. We informed her that we were dining prior to a show, and thus had a somewhat tight schedule. Despite our concerns about the timing due to the crowded restaurant, our orders arrived surprisingly quickly and were nothing short of delicious. The French onion soup came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Hearty and flavorful, it was a standout dish that hit all the right notes. I also tried the Croque-inspired eggroll appetizer, an interesting concept that fell a bit short compared to the soup but was still quite enjoyable. My companion's simple salad, enhanced with added salmon, demonstrated that even the more straightforward dishes at Francois Frankie are prepared with care and skill. The salmon was impeccably cooked and well-seared, a testament to the kitchen's attention to detail. The pricing at Francois Frankie aligns well with the quality of the offerings and is comparable to other dining establishments in the area. For a night out in Chicago, especially if you're planning a visit to a nearby theater, Francois Frankie offers an excellent dining experience. Its combination of chic ambiance, attentive service, and flavorful cuisine make it a worthy stop on any downtown itinerary.”

Land & Lake Andersonville

“Great experience! We went for Sunday happy hour. Staff was very nice and attentive, food and drinks came out promptly. Sangria was a bit too sweet, but the peach vodka and pink gin cocktails were *on point*! We had the burger and buffalo chicken sandwich, chicken was tender and so juicy for such a fat piece but the SO was a bit disappointed it wasn't breaded and fried. The burger was solid - pickles were homemade and sauce was tasty. Potato bun on both was a bit soft/mushy when it soaked up condiment juices - not the best but not deal breakers. Loved the fries - they were clearly cut and fried in house and were crisp and fresh. We sat on the back patio which we loved back when this used to be the Brixton. It is friendly and bright though on a hot and humid day like today the covering on top made it 10x as hot. Overall we had a great time and we will definitely be back :) especially to check out that bottomless mimosa brunch! PS - if you are this restaurant and reading this please put the brunch menu and info on the website!”
