“There were only two checkouts open when I approached with a full trolley. I was the third shopper in the queue at one as more shoppers arrived, also with full trolleys. Queues were building. There was no attempt by any staff member to open another checkout. After waiting 8 mins and still waiting in line, I decided to phone the store on my mobile to explain the lack of service and request another checkout to be opened. This eventually resulted in another checkout being opened but I was not invited to go through the newly opened one. I was still waiting for several minutes when another worker appeared and asked me to come through. By now the queues were really busy. Surely someone should be monitoring the volume of shoppers approaching checkouts and arranging for more checkouts to open. Please don’t assume shoppers with full trolleys will use self checkouts. I shouldn’t have to phone the store from a queue to get some service.”
