“Managed to get a reservation in their Tatami room for my best friends before they close on July 1st. The cuts of fish on the nigiri were much larger than other sushi restaurants, and very high quality. I had no idea that the atmosphere of the basement area would be so well articulated. Lots of interesting things to try on the drink menu and dessert menu. It'll be sad when they close up but I'm so glad I got to experience a part of Ottawa dining history.”

“We had dinner here and the service was incredible given how busy the restaurant was. The environment felt super fancy at first but as the night got busier, we felt more relaxed. We ordered a lot of dishes to share. For appetizers, the tuna and chestnut soup was really good, but the carpaccio was nothing out of the ordinary. For mains, I ordered the mushroom risotto, which was way too salty for my taste. The gnocchi was amazing though!! Its sauce is probably the best I’ve ever had. We also ordered the pizza which was really good too. Before the dishes came out, a manager came out and told us they accidentally burnt the pizza but they’d make us a new one, which wasn’t a problem. When the daily special, the lasagna, came out, there was a really vibrant neon-green stain on the cheese (last pic). We asked the waiter what it was and apparently, it’s from the food-safe seal that comes on the cheese. The chef took it back, put some fancy salad leaves to cover it, then sent it back to us. Also, for dessert, the salted caramel was delicious! Overall, the service was great, but the food wasn’t worth a special trip for. (Also side note, the table beside us ordered the pumpkin ravioli which was supposed to come with a brown butter sauce. It didn’t come with sauce and they had to talk with the chef to get some.)”

If you go there for your first time, invest into an omakase, the Chef will truly blow your mind. This is high quality sushi, it’s a treat, and I can’t see a place like this be affordable. “About everything you’d expect from a fine dining place. Food was absolutely delicious I haven’t had lamb this good in a while which was impressive considering every place does generally the same thing but not Greystones! Service was really friendly but our waitress was definitely overworked cause she was hustling & not very present but I like fewer touches at the table when I’m eating so it didn’t bother me. Drinks were good but I was expecting more. I also feel like a change of glasses would do your cocktails better & I forget the name but the side seasoning on one of the drinks all over the glass was more salty than spicy & just too much of it. All in all a fantastic time though.”

“TL;DR - Hollow hype This place has a ton of great reviews, but they seem unfounded. It was packed when we went, but that meant the overworked server helping us was barely around. When we eventually got our food, the sushi was unplesantly dry (and unagi was cold), the skewers were cold and flavorless, and the ramen was akin to overcooked Mr. Noodles with frozen pork cutlets. Save your money, go somewhere else.”

The atmosphere is quiet and a great layout, not a huge place so at peak times you may have to wait for a table. I’ve purchased takeout as well and quality is still superior to other sushi takeout. A favourite place of mine for lunch. The food is top notch, always peak freshness, excellent presentation as well.”
