“Managed to get a reservation in their Tatami room for my best friends before they close on July 1st. The cuts of fish on the nigiri were much larger than other sushi restaurants, and very high quality. I had no idea that the atmosphere of the basement area would be so well articulated. Lots of interesting things to try on the drink menu and dessert menu. It'll be sad when they close up but I'm so glad I got to experience a part of Ottawa dining history.”

This restaurant only has two options on their menu, both the pre-fixe menu, we took the smaller one. I wish I could explain each dish in detail, but that would take me hours to write. Bottom line, it was worth every penny. And they have a great selection of saki.”

“We honestly had an incredible experience for our first time. They really raised the bar high for sushi standards in Ottawa. Fish quality is incredible and presentation so unique. If you go there for your first time, invest into an omakase, the Chef will truly blow your mind. This is high quality sushi, it’s a treat, and I can’t see a place like this be affordable. “About everything you’d expect from a fine dining place. Food was absolutely delicious I haven’t had lamb this good in a while which was impressive considering every place does generally the same thing but not Greystones! Service was really friendly but our waitress was definitely overworked cause she was hustling & not very present but I like fewer touches at the table when I’m eating so it didn’t bother me. Drinks were good but I was expecting more. I also feel like a change of glasses would do your cocktails better & I forget the name but the side seasoning on one of the drinks all over the glass was more salty than spicy & just too much of it. All in all a fantastic time though.”

“It’s a hidden gem. Right at the NE plaza of Bathurst/Rutherford. It’s easy to find a parking spot there. We got a separate room, we ordered love boat, crispy crunchy roll, and shrimp tempura. The food is so fresh, delicious and tasty. The price is reasonable. The service is welcome, but a little slow. The overall experience is pretty good.”

The location is clean and not really for dine in...but it's an endless take out line. The items are fresh, high quality, etc. I've never been disappointed once. They don't use an excessive amount of rice layer around the sushi components on the inside of the roll. It's probably the only place I've seen do that in this city.”

“I have been going here for the better part of 23 years now. I am not sure why I haven’t left a review until now but today the owner and master Chef did something for me that was amazing. As I had finished and paid for my meal I left my booth to use the restroom. As soon as Chef Lee saw me leave the booth he waved to me and on my way back I stopped and asked him about a dish they used to serve maybe 15-18 years ago. It was a spicy salad that has since been removed from the menu. It was my literal favourite and the thing that got me hooked on this restaurant. Chef Lee told me he will make me a complimentary salad to see if it’s what I remember. So I went back to the table and told my friends we can’t leave yet. The server then brought over a small salad with the spicy dressing like many years ago. I was so happy and then the Chef told me that if it’s not too busy next time I come in he will make the dish for me. It was so nice that he recognized me as a valued customer and took the time to make me something he knew I liked. I am a customer for life at Yumei Sushi. Thank you Chef Lee 🙏🏻”

“Thoroughly disappointed in all aspects of this restaurant. When I first walked in I basically had to find one of the waitresses myself to be given a table, no one bothered to greet me. As I sat down and was given my cutlery I noticed that the first set of chopsticks I received was broken with massive splinters sticking out. The service was alright because of the robot but other than that my server didn't seem too happy to be there the one time I saw her. The gyoza were alright because I'm pretty sure they come premade, but the rolls weren't very good at all. The edamame was incredibly over salted and the sushi was alright but not good enough to make me want to order more. When I finished my meal I also had to find someone so I could pay and leave. I went in hoping to have a good lunch based on the reviews that I had seen but I left very dissatisfied.”

“The food is great here. The only reason i give 4 starts instead of 5 is because every time i walk in even half an hour before closing , they deny dine-in. Or if they allow dine-in they only give me 5 minutes to order! Which is not very convenient considering not many restaurants are like that! But nonetheless the food is so good!
