“It’s my second time visiting Tomo21. The first visit was great, from the service to the freshness of the sushi – all superb. They also serve complimentary hot green tea if you ask, which is a plus for me since I like to drink hot green tea with my sushi. On the second visit, I ordered the sushi dinner deluxe and was kind of disappointed because I didn’t see much difference compared to the regular sushi dinner, which I believe was better. Also, my server made me ask four times for tea, and the restaurant was empty, so I was quite surprised. But overall, it was a good experience with nice people, good sushi, and affordable prices.”

“Delicious omakase-especially since it was our first time! It was very much a secretive basement restaurant vibe! Seats about 8 people and is 45-50 mins long which is perfect! The sushi chef puts on a show and tells us what each delectable bite of sushi was. We very much enjoyed the 12 piece course, definitely need to visit again soon!”

“My partner is a great fan of Chinese food, while I’m not a huge one. She enjoyed every bit of our evening and admittedly so did I! The cocktails were very creative and complemented the dishes nicely. We had the crispy beef, five flavour chicken dumpling, broccoli and mushroom main and the duck with noodles. All were amazingly delicious and special, not too fatty and very juicy. Will go back again.”

The atmosphere is the weak link in the restaurant since everything else is so great. There are some cheaper options with specials, such as a lunch meal, but also more expensive options you can order. It does get quite busy so get there easy!”

They also have some flavorful sauces to go with the food. Prices are reasonable, especially for the prime location in Chelsea ($34 total with drinks). “Great menu, that has a little bit of everything that their skirt steak with fried rice was surprisingly very tasty even though I wasn't expecting that combination. Also had their bolognese and the veal added so much flavor to their dish. They also have a good happy hour menu that has drinks and small bites. Service was exceptional as we had an issue with one of our dishes and they kindly sent it back (not pictured their black pasta which was salty). Can't wait to go back.”

“My friend took me there and told me they got best karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and he was not wrong! Wow their chicken was big and tasty. Other items were very good too. Not only the food was great, but the service was very good too. Even tho we got in 10min their closing time, they were very accommodating and never complained or rushed us. Totally worth visiting.”

Loved everything, and the sake was good too. It’s pricey though, so you gotta be ready for that but at least the experience is good enough that you can justify it :) the see urchin toast is one of the best bites I’ve had in the city!”
