“I don’t know why I did not review this place sooner! It is by far my favorite restaurant in the Oak Park area, and one of the only ones I am a regular! The coziness of the place is charming, only a few tables plus the sushi bar, and then the food… another level. There is no better sushi in the area and I would debate if there’s better sushi even in Chicago. Ingredients are fresh and quality is insane. On top of it, service is awesome and they always have a smile and are ready for you, but without rushing you at the same time. Simply amazing! I’ll keep coming forever I guess 🔥😁”

“This place is simply amazing. Definitely my favorite Japanese restaurant in Chicago. I live in south loop, with current traffic I drive for like an hour to come here to eat, and I’m not disappointed at all, and I’m sure I will keep coming back. Every single dish we ordered were really tasty and pretty big portion. The vibe isn very warm and cozy just like a typical Japanese eatery. Service is also pretty good. And the price is really good! Already can’t wait to go back!”

“Decided to go here for dinner around 6:30pm on a Monday and had a 45 minute wait. The appetizers were pretty good and fairly priced. As for the entrees, the katsu dinner was crunchy and juicy. The ramen noodles were cooked perfectly but toppings were just okay. The udon noodle soup is a little bland and would be better with togarashi. Luckily the pickled vegetables we ordered for appetizers helped add flavor to the udon. Overall, it's a decent dinner, but I wouldn't wait that long for the restaurant again. If it's not crowded, I might come back.”

“My first time here since they reopened. Family restaurant, comfort Japanese food that brings me back to eating in Japan. Friendly staff, great quality food. Rolls are creative and fresh. “Met a friend for dinner here on a Thursday evening. I haven’t been here since before 2020, they now only have one section of the restaurant, it’s not as big as it used to be but the quality of the food is still the same. “So delicous! Stopped in to celebrate my 11th year anniversary with my partner and we were not disappointed. We did the omakase service. The food was great, delicious and not rushed. They also have a small selection of Mocktails, all were tasty, but the Blueberry was my favorite. My partner did the 3 sake flight, which pairs with select servings. Our server, who walked us through all the dishes, was wonderful. Overall a very fun and delightful night.”

“This was genuinely such a treat! The restaurant is split into two areas, one for pickup and the other the dining hall with a full service sushi bar. I loved the traditional Japanese details mixed in with the modern flair of creature comforts like booth seating. The owner or perhaps the hostess greeted and served me. I assume she was the owner because she directed the other staff while I was there. Anyways, her service was excellent and I ordered the Japanese fried chicken which was soooo good even without sauce! The flavors of the chicken were nice and full with juicy bites and savory taste. I also squeezed some lemon juice on top of the chicken as it was provided on the side. This boosted the flavor. Would definitely recommend this dish. For my entree I ordered the Sukiyaki I believe it was called; a beef stew with cabbage and onion and glass noodles. The portion was way too big for me after eating the chicken and drinking the hot sake I ordered, but wow what an amazingly warming soup with a great sweet and salty flavor! The beef was so tender and I wanted a lot more of it to be honest. The cabbage was perfection and my only complaint was that my soup had too many onions so it felt more like onion soup with cabbage and beef add ons than a beef soup with some onions in it. All in all, def recommend this restaurant, and I will be trying their other location soon enough! P.S. I made my reservation for 4pm on a Sunday, right before the dinner rush started. There was no one else present when I was seated, and as I was finishing my meal, more people were starting to pour in! They have great food so definitely make a reservation and plan ahead.”

“My brother lives across the street from this place and last time I visited him I got the chicken teriyaki and it was one of the best I’ve had and at a good price for the amount of food you get. I was so excited to get it again that we got take out the first night I was here. They increased the price by $5, which I would’ve been fine with considering how much food I got last time. Unfortunately we were incredibly disappointed. Not only did they increase the price by 25%, but the portion size is probably 75% smaller than it use to be and it wasn’t nearly as good. It was not even a full piece of chicken, they filled the container with cheap vegetables and the chicken wasn’t even in the sauce, you had to pour it on yourself. I never eat my full meal, but there was so little chicken that I ate it all and I was still hungry after. You can look back in the photos to see what the chicken teriyaki use to look like compared to now. Extremely disappointing that they changed this meal when it was so good, even if there are new owners. They made it much worse AND increased the price by $5.”
