“My son visited with his scout group, they had them all dressed and watched safety video to then be told they didn't have a helmet to fit him. He is 11 and of fairly average size, there were 16 in his group and he was the only one not allowed to race. He has Asperger’s and it took a huge amount of courage for him to attend. I wonder why and how they think this is ok? Advertised that children from 8 can attend but they don't have equipment to accommodate? The manager offered him to use later matrix on his own away from his group and thought this was acceptable! I can't work out why they would not have a helmet to fit and sincerely hope this does not happen to anyone else. Anyone who knows about ASD will understand how deeply this has affected my son and how it has already and will in the future affect trips to new places.”

“We walked there on a rare sunny day during our October visit. There is no parking for the beach, cars park on verges up the road, on the sides… Easy walk on a maintained path to the beach. Beautiful views of the steep hills and waterfalls to the sides and the crashing waves to the sea. The beach is made of large black volcanic rocks, rather than sand or small pebbles. People were attempting to swim, but the waves made things very difficult.”

“I have been at swimming pool on Sunday 1st October. There was few foreign women with lots of children. Definitely they broke all possible rules (leaving the diaper on the side of swimming pool, had more than 1 non swimmer child under 4 years old, using line for playing instead of swimming and not listening to lifeguards at all). Reception should count every children before let them in because this threatened the health and life of these children.”

“I regularly use the gym, which is a big open space with plenty of equipment for everyone, even at its busiest times. Staff are helpful and friendly. Changing rooms, especially showers, could be upgraded. Otherwise, I would say it is excellent value.”

“A lovely swim centre. Not a huge pool at just under 25m but with a beautiful glass roof giving it an airy feel. Friendly staff who will happily lend you floats etc. Ladies changing area has been newly renovated. As far as I could see, no individual cubicles for changing but enclosed individual showers. Very clean and plenty of lockers. Lovely sauna too and a gym.”

“The facilities are excellent - I use the pool for lane swimming, the sauna and steam and RPM classes. The pool is always warm, the showers are a perfect temperature and the changing rooms and, indeed, the whole centre are clean and well maintained. Plenty of free parking in the car park. All the staff are so helpful and friendly. This is by far the best leisure centre I’ve ever used, it’s wonderful to see it being used and enjoyed by all ages and is a great asset to Montrose.”

“I've recently cancelled my membership. The pool area just kept getting more and more grimy. The path to the women's changing room is slippy because of the dirt build up which you can visabley see. The sauna handle slowing grew black grime on the bottom of the handle and the floor in the womens shower is grimy. I left like I needed to shower after a shower. The water barely runs hot and the jacuzzi is cold most of the time. It's cheaper than most gyms but I still dont think it's worth the money.”

“Toddler pool is mainly limited to afternoons (when a lot of toddlers nap), pool isn't that big so when you have it as a non-booking pool you end up with a crowded pool with no room , only 2 family changing rooms (again not practical for the amount of families there, particularly with young children), normal cubicles were too small and not practical to get a baby/toddler dressed/undressed. Swimming pool seemed fine for older children but wouldn't recommend for families with younger children/babies/toddlers.”
