Footbridge Beach
4.8
( 8 reviews )

Maine 03907, United States

“A great beach, I call it a hidden gem. Only thing that’s not so great is the parking is $6 an hour. A vast beach that’s clean and big. When the tide is out you can walk a mile to reach the water. I go there often.”

“Visiting Maine every year, we always make it a point to go to Fort Foster: if it's summer, it's all about fishing and swimming; if it's fall, it's time for mushroom and berry picking. But winter? Don't come here in winter, it can get as low as minus 150 Fahrenheit, lol. My favorite spot, the best place I've tried lobsters, is Kittery Point”

Roque Bluffs State Park

145 Schoppee Point Rd, Roque Bluffs, ME 04654, United States

“Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! The last time I was here I did the trails. They're a fun hike that isn't too difficult and there are benches periodically spread out through the trails. There's one area where you go up (or down) a very steep hill, so if you have balance issues, weak knees or ankles, I recommend bringing trekking poles. From this trail, there is an abandoned boat and a barge you can view. You can get to them eventually by continuing along the trail, eventually taking a left onto an unofficial trail, and then bushwhacking. Beware, the beach there sitting on is very muddy, so be prepared to get your feet wet or to view from the edge of the woods. The rest of the park really speaks for itself. Gorgeous ocean views, thundering sounds of waves even on a calm day, view of islands off in the distance, the sound of gulls, smell of salt, a breeze (or more sometimes), and all around pleasant and calming to be at. The pond on the other side is equally beautiful, and a calm counterpart to the ocean. In order to help maintain and preserve these parks, please be sure to pay the fees! They're cash only. I have attached an image of the current fees to this review.”

Lake St. George State Park
4.6
( 8 reviews )

278 Belfast Augusta Rd, Liberty, ME 04949, United States

“This rating is for a day visit. I cannot speak to the camping experience here. The park itself is small but very well manicured. There is a large lawn set on a small hill which is great for picnics. There also are tables with charcoal grills all along the coast of the lake. There is no beach, but relatively easy access to swim via 3 rough cut stone steps about 25 feet long. There is a large stick built wall less pavilion building with picnic tables and cabinets. This also has a larger grill setup. There is a good size playground, complete with swings. You look across the lake to the far shore but there is enough open water for an excellent breeze. There is a large outbuilding with restrooms. I cannot speak to the cleanliness as I did not use them. The rest of the park was well maintained so I would hope they are as well. They do fence off a swimming area with a buoy line. All in all, a very nice place to visit, you can hear the road but that does not take away from the beauty of the place.”

Thomas Point Beach & Campground
4.5
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 02:00 PM

29 Meadow Rd, Brunswick, ME 04011, United States

“Great camp grounds for tent and RV. Family owned and very clean and well taken care of. Kayak and paddle board rentals available. I found them through their Reggae festival where I camped for a weekend and enjoyed music and vendors. You can also go clamming when the tide goes out but you have to have a license. People get loads of em in peak season. Visitors must be checked in so it feels safe at night”

Rangeley Lake State Park
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Open until 11:00 PM

1 State Park Rd, Rangeley, ME 04970, United States

“Loved this park! Great views of the lake, some sites even have access for a kayak. Long road to the office and another to the campground so I didn't have to run far on the highway. The only negative was with the showers. You would have to press the button every 30 seconds to keep the water going which was difficult with a soapy face. Also just warm water, not hot. Some dog owners had their dogs loose which is difficult when you have a reactive dog”

Echo Lake Beach
4.6
( 16 reviews )

Mt Desert, ME 04660, United States

“The “beach” is small, but definitely looks like an amazing place to swim and great place for pics. As others have mentioned, there are bathrooms, changing rooms and a water fountain nearby. The trail can be tough! In some parts it’s not paved and it’s just random rocks you’re stepping on (hoping not to twist an ankle). The ladders are a cool/unique touch. But the views are worth it!”

Swan Lake State Park
4.5
( 10 reviews )
Open until 07:01 PM

100 Upper Oak Hl Rd, Swanville, ME 04915, United States

“1st time visitor - My wife and I found this great little state park while out for a drive. They charge admission but when we arrived the tollbooth was unmanned and the fee was on the honor system. What a nice park! Tons of parking (like over 100 spots) and an easy walk to the beach area. Multiple picnic tables with grills, including tables designed for handicapped patrons. Playgrounds for the kids, within sight of the beach. Lots of restrooms available. The beach area itself was very large, probably over a football field in length. The beach wasn't sandy but it was a fine gravel which was fine on bare feet. The water was clear and lots of families were taking advantage of the sunny, pleasant day. There is a lifeguard tower but no one was in it. There are signs posted that say dogs are not allowed on the beach, but if you walk down a wooded path to the right of the beach area there is a designated dog beach. Well maintained, clean, and inviting park. Great for anyone wanting a quiet getaway with family.”
