“I recently had the pleasure of visiting La Bodega, a Spanish bar located in the heart of Victoria, and I must say it was an incredible experience. I enjoyed a delightful cheese board paired with a rich red wine, and the combination was simply perfect. The ambiance of La Bodega is captivating, creating an authentic Spanish atmosphere that immediately transports you to a different world. The dim lighting and rustic decor added to the charm of the place, making it a perfect setting for a cozy evening in the heart of Victoria. What truly stood out for me was the impeccable service. The staff at La Bodega were attentive, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly. They were more than willing to offer recommendations, ensuring that I got the best out of my visit. The cheese board was a work of art, featuring a delectable selection of cheeses that catered to various tastes, and the red wine complemented the flavors beautifully. Every bite and sip felt like a journey through the Spanish culinary landscape. La Bodega, nestled in the heart of Victoria, is unquestionably a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the essence of Spain right in the heart of this charming location. Whether you're a fan of Spanish cuisine or simply looking for a cozy place to unwind, La Bodega's combination of excellent food and outstanding service makes it a top choice. I can't wait to return for another delightful evening at this remarkable establishment.”

“Great experience at Hanzo. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday and took the tasting menu. They were very kind in customizing the menu to remove the food we could not eat. We were so happy with the variety and amount of food that was served! Everything was delicious, but I especially loved the fish cake with cheese and the salmon tartar bowl. Highly recommend the tasting menu, so worth it!”

386 St Paul St, St. Catharines, ON L2R 3N2, Canada

“Popped in for a late afternoon Sunday brunch - place was empty but service was great. The food - we had the Fries, Calamari, and Baked Brie - was unreal. Very easily sharable or edible on your own. The seaweed Fries was one of the most unique things I have had in ages. Lots of very small unique craft brews as well - not your run of the mill 'major craft' beers - lots of different stuff here. All in all, great and highly recommended.”

Chorizo & Co. Restaurant & Bar
4.7
( 8 reviews ) $$

807 Fort St, Victoria, BC V8W 1H6, Canada

“This Mediterranean styled tapa bistro seems to be a hidden gem at a time when many sub-standard restaurants are requiring paid reservations and add restrictions to your time to enjoy being out. Not here. Rich flavoured food, and a great selections of drinks. We had the grilled cauliflower, grilled Humboldt squid, special spot prawn dumplings, dry aged chorizo (it’s in the name - just order some!) and churros. He had a couple HH wines for $6 and cocktails. This is a restaurant you should put on repeat!”

La Paella

( 8 reviews )

1146 Queen St E, Toronto, ON M4M 1L1, Canada

“My best friend and I went to La Paella for my Birthday dinner. The environment was very chill with cool decor. Food was mediocre at best. The paella was ok and not that flavourful. Rice had to be cooked longer. Nothing stood out for us in terms of dish wise. I’ve had better paella elsewhere. The pimento peppers with beef cheeks was mushy and the empanadas was nothing special. The service was fine when we ordered our food but as we’re ordering our dessert for my Birthday the server told us our 2 hours is up and we can’t order dessert and she needed the table back and for us to leave. I understand during Covid there was a time restriction with the amount of food we ordered and money spent it was so rude to kick us out!! They knew it was my birthday too!! What a bad experience, I have never been told to leave a restaurant in the middle of ordering dessert. Never coming back not just due to the rude service but also food being mediocre.”

The Merchant Kitchen
4.3

314 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H3, Canada

“It was our party's first time at The Merchant Kitchen. The service was attentive and our server was very genuine. The menu was a little on the smaller side but presented some interesting options. Our server explained the menu and mentioned that the food was served family style. Our party decided on purchasing individual appetizers and we decided on the Grilled Corn. The corn was seasoned well, however, the tortilla chips lacked flavour, almost as if they were store-bought. The menu was priced on the higher side, although justifiable, as it was a more classier atmosphere.”

“What a nice dining experience this place is! Make sure you get a reservation as they will get very full. They have a great selection of local wines and an extensive menu of a variety of eats that will leave you full. The tasting menu is a great option if you’re not sure what to get, and their cocktails are also well made. Overall a wonderful experience and will definitely come back for more food in the future!”

Cadena Restaurant & Tapas Bar

“Expensive restaurant with nice ambiance, great service but average food Went to Cadena for the first time because of the positive reviews on Google. However we were a little bit underwhelmed with the quality of food and the variety offered, particularly for the prices. The tapas were freshly prepared, flavourful and nicely presented. The seafood paella took a really long time to come out, and when it was out, the rice was lukewarm and seafood dry, not much meat in the snow crabs, no clams, just some mussels and 2 small lobster tails. The rice was a bit mushy to my taste but that’s a personal preference only. The staff was very friendly and professional! Upon knowing that it was a birthday celebration, the server offered a free shooter to the birthday boy, a very nice gesture. We also really like the decor, warm and lively, with accents of regions of Spain, it was quite charming. All that being said, the final bill really surprised me: we ordered 4 tapas to share, 2 soft drinks, 1 pitcher of sangria and 1 large seafood paella, and 2 desserts and a tea, with taxes and gratuities, the bill was $490. This price tag rivals extravagant meals that we had in NYC. Would cautiously recommend this restaurant for special occasions only, and be prepared for a large bill.”

Restaurant Kamuy

1485 Jeanne-Mance St, Montreal, Quebec H2X 1Z9, Canada

“Very nice little quaint spot. Servers were friendly, food was absolutely amazing. It was out of the ordinary for sure. Worth the prices. We took all the tapas + the gnocchi plate with octopus on top and this plate was our favorite by far, one of the best dish I have ever tasted. The bottle to make our own punch was a great addition also. I do recommend and will be back. Also have a nice view of the quartier des spectacles”

Le Theophile - Restaurant

“Cozy eclectic restaurant. The service was phenomenal. The ambiance was charming. The plates are like tapas, small portions. Nonetheless, the food was superb. The prices are a bit on the higher end, but I didn't mind, given it was all around a great spot!”

“The rating is based on a dine-in dinner experience. Ambience: 5/5 - A great place to dine with friends and family for special occasions or just because… Service: 5/5 – our server, Bailey came to check on us often Food: 5/5 – ordered the halibut burger wrapped in lettuce rather than a brioche bun. It came with potato wedges. The fish was cooked to perfection & didn’t taste dry. The other dish was the seafood linguine with plenty of prawns, scallops & mussels in tomato sauce. We finished the meal off with crème crème brulee. I recommend all 3 dishes. There’s an extensive taco menu. Great choices for vegans and vegetarians. Value: 5/5 – reasonably priced compared to city prices Parking: 5/5 – complimentary parking in front If you’re ever in the neighbourhood in need of a good meal especially before or after a ferry ride, this is the place to go! Can’t wait to come back to try their tacos.”

“This place is a hidden gem! Good affordable wine with delicious snacks (free corn nuts for all!). Some of the best service I’ve received in Toronto. Staff were all super friendly and attentive and truly made our experience that much more special. Great spot to grab a few glasses of wine with friends”

Tabula Rasa

725 Osborne St, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2C1, Canada

“I loved the food. The service was ok. It was neither rude or welcoming. The atmosphere was very small and a little cramped but it was not bad. The food itself here was the star. Each dish tasted unique. I find with tapas sometimes they all taste similar in flavour profiles but not here. The only dish we had that I was not a fan of was the duck and the kale side. Very bland in flavor. All others blew me away. I'd definitely go back to try more dishes. Small side note, all dishes pictured are Gluten-free.”
