Saryo Housen
4.5
( 8 reviews ) $$

Japan, 〒606-0861 Kyoto, Sakyo Ward, Shimogamo Nishitakagicho, 25

“Great store. A must visit if you go to Kyoto. The 1,400 yen warabi mochi has a unique softness and elasticity that combines the flavors of warabi powder, sugar, and water to create an incredible texture. What made it successful is probably the result of spirit. The garden and building create a quiet space on their own, and there are no noisy guests, so you can spend a peaceful time. This is Kyoto. It's a store that's beginner-friendly. I think you can eat about 2 cups per person. Kuri Shiruko, which is only available in autumn, has the best chestnut soup in shiruko, but the chestnuts inside don't match well, and each one would be delicious if eaten alone, but it's a waste of food.”

Japan, 〒104-0061 Tokyo, Chuo City, Ginza, 6 Chome−10−1 GINZA SIX 4F

“Super delicious desserts here. The hot matcha tea is very fragrant and we thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Pleasant servers generally except for a woman who was sitting patrons - grouchy attitude from the very start whilst we were waiting for our table till the moment we were seated and finally when I made the payment. She struggles with English but that is not the way to treat your guests especially when your shop is located in Ginza with plenty of tourists. Not a word of thanks from her. Would have given 4 Star rating had it not been her lousy attitude.”

“Definitely I will visit there again. They serve marvelous, traditional, and excellent local foods like Udon, Mochi, and Rice with Tororo. Everything we ordered went beyond our expectations. Portion of all dishes are bit larger than others.”

Cure Maid Café

Japan, 〒101-0021 Tokyo, Chiyoda City, Sotokanda, 1 Chome−2−7 オノデンビル 4F 本店

“Went with my family. It's our first time in Japan. I wanted a classy maid cafe and it did not disappoint. The five of us came on a weekend and got a reservation ticket. One hour later, we returned and they gave us a table. The food was wonderful. Please don't take pictures of the maids, it is not allowed without permission. Due to the European theme, the staff here knows much more English than other restaurants. The only thing that could be improved is faster service but I understand since it's such a popular place, with many customers and only about 3 maids to host and serve. Finally, please don't order too much food as take out is not allowed. (Google maps says it's allowed but the maids informed me that it is not allowed.)”

“It was a fun experience! I ordered afternoon tea, and I think it was around 4,600 yen per person. You can choose 2 scones and 2 creams. I chose chocolate chip, plain scone, raspberry, and clotted cream. I think chocolate chip or earl gray scones are delicious. I had to choose a tea. I wanted to drink it with milk, so I chose Gothic tea. It tasted good, but I was disappointed that it had a bit of a whiskey flavor. Our table butler was cute. The first-class butler was very cool. It would have been fun if I was good at Japanese, but it was disappointing that I couldn't understand it and communication was limited. Still, I was thankful that the butler who served us spoke a little English. And it was funny that the housekeeper escorted me when I went to the bathroom. In the evening, you can use it for about 100 minutes and payment is requested 20 minutes in advance. Highly recommended if you are good at Japanese! If you can't do it, it would be a good idea to experience it once. It was amazing that the inside was almost full with no empty seats and there were a lot of local people~~”

“Great service by Rai! Love her presence during our stay, very helpful in everything! When we reached, they escorted us into our rooms, and checked us in. She went through the amenities, and all the timing changes for male/female onsen. Really enjoyed the stay here. The only thing bad was the location of it, it was quite a narrow walk before reaching the bridge. But the view at the bridge was spectacular. Luckily, they could help us get taxi for us to get back to the station. 10 course dinner meal, some pickled sushi for supper, and a 5 course breakfast meal, we're definitely satisfied! There's happy hour menu until 17:30, so do get them!”

“Came here for a nice Japanese dessert after lunch on a hot summer day - thankfully we were able to get a table quickly without having to wait in the heat. Love the tranquil atmosphere and variety of options. Had the kakigori (shaved ice), parfait and ice noodles - all were excellent. A little pricey (expect to spend ~2,000 yen per person) and had to order the set (matcha tea or equivalent) that goes with the desert.”

“A small inn that is a renovated old folk house. It seems that the number of foreign customers has increased, so it has a typical Japanese appearance. Since it is an old private house, it feels a little small, but this also means that you can fully enjoy the old Japanese atmosphere. Soaking in the hot springs while listening to the songs of wild birds was truly paradise.”

“[November 2023] Try these baked sweets as family travel souvenirs. "Western Tea House" is a famous cafe in Osaka, famous for its delicious tea and sweets. On this day, there were three types of baked sweets: ``Chiffon Cake,'' ``Lemon Cookies,'' and ``Meringue Cookies.'' Although it doesn't look flashy, I think it's a baked confectionery typical of a Western tea house. I ate it with delicious coffee, and the softness and quality of the flavor of the ``chiffon cake'' was as expected. Wow, it's really delicious. ``Lemon Cookies'' has a strong lemon flavor, but it feels like it maintains a balance as a baked confectionery. This seems to go well with straight black tea. The ``meringue cookie'' has a fun meringue texture and goes well with coffee. It tasted as expected, and you could say it had an old-fashioned taste, but it was a high-quality "baked confectionery." Thank you for the meal.”

“I'm here. I'm here. I usually see it when I walk around Shinjuku. Showa coffee shop Ranburu. ☕️On this day, I went to Ranblue with my friends in front of the store! It is still a popular place, By mid-afternoon, there were about 20 people in line! Of course we lined up, and lined up from the front on the stairs leading to the basement. We lined up for about 30 minutes to get in! It's a retro coffee shop with a spacious hall that can accommodate 200 people! The chandelier that illuminates the underground hall has a brilliance from the Showa era to the present✨ that I really enjoyed! At a cozy table in the back of the basement I ordered a cola float and gateau chocolate and was immersed in the nostalgic aftertaste of the Showa era! ☺️The gateau chocolat contains olive fruit, which goes well with the chocolate. It was outstanding. After all, a coffee shop is a place for everyone to meet and have various discussions. It's a place to spend time. ☺️We took a break at this place☕️ and really enjoyed it! Thank you very much 😊”

“A tea specialty store located on the second floor of BAL. There is no parking lot or bicycle parking lot. Wheelchair accessible. There is also a cafe where you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea. This time, I bought a tea leaf and pot set and a spoon [for measuring tea leaves] as a gift. There are various types of tea leaves in special cans, and I think it's worth a visit just to see the special cans. They have a wide variety of tea leaves, and if you tell them what you want, they will provide you with the tea leaves that match your needs. There are also various types of tea utensils and spoons, ranging from expensive items to affordable items. If it's difficult to get a complete set all at once, it might be fun to collect them gradually when the time is right.”

Every single dish has been explained and the taste was exquisite! Usually it's expensive for dinner but lunch is more reasonable.”

“Quaint coffee shop with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. One of the few places I know in the area specializing in Arabic coffee where I can order single origin brews from Yemen. The ambiance is small, but thoughtfully curated like an organic greenhouse. Highly recommend for those looking to stop for a quick coffee break from shopping.”

“Came here whilst driving to Nakatsu and saw the signboard. Decided to turn in and try their onsen. The road is a little bit narrow for a car, typical mountain village and you have to drive carefully. However the road in is beautiful and tranquil. At the end of the road you will reach a little house with both a shokudo restaurant an onsen. We did not try their food as we were still quite full, but it does look delicious. The onsen is 400 yen per adult, new towel at 250 yen. There are indoor and outdoor bath. The indoor bath is clean with shampoo and body soap but the indoor pool was too hot for me that day. The thermometer was showing 45 deg celcius, but my partners side (ladies) is at a wonderful 42 deg celcius. I tried the mens outdoor bath and it was simply spectacular. The mountain view is superb. However the water is not as hot as i would have liked due to being exposed to cold outdoor air. I had to stay near the source to be warmer. Overall it was a nice bath and we both truely enjoyed it. Highly recommend to drop by for the onsen when you are enroute either to nakatsu or beppu/oita.”
