“I had an amazing experience at a high-end Asian-American restaurant in Honolulu's Chinatown. The chef's preset menu was a delightful journey of flavors, expertly mixing traditional local tastes with modern American influences. The textures and temperature contrasts in each dish were impressive, and the service was top-notch. It's a must-visit for a unique and memorable culinary adventure. Five stars! Best cornbread ever!”

“Was quite surprised with the low rating, however reading the reviews made us try it. I’d give them a 10 if that was possible. The food was delicious. I had the chicken pad Thai and my husband had the pork fried rice. We ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer.”

Thai Issan Cuisine
4
( 10 reviews ) $$

2929 Kapiolani Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96826, United States

“Authentic Thai cuisine with great explosive flavors. The curry had a good mix of spice and coconut flavor. The appetizer plate gave a good mix of all the favorites. Good pricing. The restaurant is small with only 8 tables. They do a lot of take out which is a bit annoying if you sit near the door but the food more than makes up for this.”

“Lovely spot at the Coconut Market for Thai and Chinese cuisine. Outdoor seating. Fast and attentive service. I had the black pepper chicken that was seasoned wonderfully and my wife had the walnut shrimp. Delicious spring rolls as a starter. If you are staying at Islander or near by they definitely are a must try.”

Craving Thai Food Truck

“The food trucks in Kauai are serious contenders for quality dining experience. At least in the south side I figure more business is done out of food trucks and what is described as “hole in the wall” kind of restaurants than the typical sit down style restaurants. We went to Craving Thai because of the vegetarian options and also their advertised flexibility in customizing. We were not disappointed. There were quite a few vegetarian options and we settled on the vegetable rolls, Pad Thai and a Thai curry dish where we substituted meat with tofu. The vegetable wraps were delectable. They had tofu, rice, carrots and some other veggies served with a side of peanut sauce. Very tasty. The Pad Thai was good though different from the Pad Thai I typically find at Thai restaurants. Their noodles were much smaller potions and not the typical flat, rice Pad Thai noodles. Their sauce was very bland. Pad Thai comes with a strong sauce liberally smothering the noodles. They had some veggies and a side of peanut crumbles. They also did not provide for the side of sauces that typically come with the dish. Then again this is a food truck and perhaps unfair to compare them with the typical restaurant cuisine. The taste was good though. It was dry but I finished the dish with some appreciation of their flavors. The tofu curry dish was a disappointment. It was essentially peanut sauce and fried tofu with a seasoning of some spices. The combination of tofu, peanut, coconut milk made it very heavy and the taste was average. I would give it no more than a 5/10. The prices of the dishes are on the higher side. But that is typical of Kauai, considering that it’s a tourist town and expensive to begin with (gas is about a $1 more per gallon than in mainland). The server was very helpful and accommodating They had all these funny meme like statements around the serving window that was kind of endearing. Would I go back? Yes, I think it certainly worth a second try.”
