45 Rue de Chabrol, 75010 Paris, France

“I love Home Exchange! I have been a member for 3 years in which time I've swapped homes to stay in Denmark, Switzerland, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada as well as closer to home places like Washington DC, New York City and Boston. My favorite things about Home Exchange: 1. We get to experience wonderful new locations for just the cost of airfare. I can dine out or cook in the home to make it as affordable as home. 2. We get to literally live like a local since we are staying in a local's home. 3. Your exchanger is like your personal concierge (and you are theirs)! We give each other tips for great places to go and things to do. But are also easily available during your stay to answer questions you may have about the home, appliances, or even where to get a metro card etc. It's like you have a knowledgeable friend every place you visit. 4. I have gone places I never would have thought of on my own. I've had people reach out to me from places that probably wouldn't have crossed my mind without the request and have just tried it and loved it! 5. Flexibility of Simultaneous Reciprocal Exchanges, Non-Simultaneous, and Guest Points. My most recent adventure involved using all 3! I spent 2 weeks in Chardonne, Switzerland (one of those places I hadn't heard of before, but absolutely loved it). The couple had stayed at our beach condo in April and we went to their home in July. After we had accepted the Swiss exchange, a family from Nice, France asked for a simultaneous exchange in August, so I wondered how far apart the two places were. I found a 3 hour direct train from Chardonne to Lyon, France and then a 3 hour direct train from Lyon to Nice. So I reached out to some homes in Lyon for an guest points exchange and got one for a lovely 4 day stop over! What a great 5 weeks in Europe using all 3 ways! 6. We get to stay longer than we ever would if we were paying a nightly rate so we can really explore an area rather than just the greatest hits tour. We had a family from Paris ask to do a 3 month exchange. It was wonderful! We saw so much of Paris that we never would have in a short visit or even a long vacation. When our hosts saw a post about something going on in Paris they thought we'd like, she'd send us a note to go check it out and we did! 7. Which brings us to one of the other wonderful things about Home Exchange. You make friends with people all over the world! 8. Everyone is so respectful of your home. We have rented out our beach condo with VRBO or AirBnB and there is much more wear and tear from these paid guests than from the friends who share your home on Home Exchange. Okay, I know that was long, but really it could be even longer! Best thing ever! Try it! Below are pics of our home exchange adventures over the last year alone!”

Lac chambon, 63790 Chambon-sur-Lac, France

“Beautiful, cosy campsite with everything you need. We were in a beautiful Premium cottage with a veranda overlooking the flowerfield and the mountains. It's not too big of a campsite. There's a luxurious Pool and beds at hand, enough playground also inside for rainy days and fun extra's like climbing and the pump track. The lake access is very convient and the restaurant and take out are good, the staff is very friendly everywhere.”

Le Petit Bois de Givrand, 85800 Givrand, France

“Fantastic holiday park. Ideal for families. Plenty of choice of mobile homes. Plenty of camping pitches for caravans and mobile homes and tents. The toilet blocks are spotless. The pool complex is fantastic with both indoor and outdoor pools with slides. Plenty of play areas fir the children. Exercise area is great. To tone your muscles up. Close to shops and beaches. This camping site is a family run site. But they go out of their way to make your holiday a very memorable one. We have been coming here for the last 5 years and we love it here. Alec and Sue Ahern.”

6 Pl. de la Gare, 88110 Celles-sur-Plaine, France

“We camped in the campavan for one night on route. The pitch we had was big and well shaded & next to the waterfall (small) in the river, thus there was a constant hum of water. The facilities were nice and modern, but again no toilet paper or hand soap! But incredibly hot, hot water! The pool was nice and had a small very shallow pool for toddlers. Good price for what was included & we would stop here again.”

C.e.s.l Création Epanouissement Sports Loisirs

3 Rue Rollin, 75005 Paris, France

“First colony for our 5 year old daughter. She came back delighted with her week! They did lots of activities around nature and tree climbing / amusement park / zoo type outings. The entertainment team was great: very good communication with the director, setting up a daily animated blog with photos to allow parents to follow the children's days, kindness and support from the entertainers, etc. Our daughter came back with lots of memories in her head. To do again!”

Camping Municipal Du Gurp

51 Rte de l'Océan, 33590 Grayan-et-l'Hôpital, France

“We liked this campsite so much we stayed here twice this holiday; once for a few days heading south to Spain and again on our return to the uk. On our second visit we arrived late in the day and tired from the drive, the site was full because of the French holiday; the reception staff and the manager went above and beyond to find us a space for a few nights, which was really heartwarming. The site itself has a lovely vibe, set in a pine forest on the beach a real mix of youngsters and families lounging on hammocks in the trees and enjoying the surf and beach. Highly recommend!”

Camping Capfun An Trest

1 Chem. de Treste, 56370 Sarzeau, France

“We had a really good week in An Trest, mainly because the weather was really good. It was very busy. It was watermark was very good for the kids and the liked that. Toilets and showers could be much better and wifi service was poor spending a lot of time trying to connect. Bar was takeaway was rather poor, with no store on site.”

Les Cabanes Perchées Du Grand Ballon
4.9
( 8 reviews )

7 Rue Madame Sans Gené, 68760 Goldbach-Altenbach, France

“This is REALLY a back to basic spot. Although you pay 165 euros for 2 people for 1 night, you’ll find yourself spending the night in a wooden cabin without running water (that means, no ordinary toilet). The bathroom facilities are about 30 meters from your cabin. And although we had our own toilet and shower, the facilities were really basic. We enjoyed the €40 Elzas platter for dinner the night of arrival, which was nice, but nothing more than a basic platter of local bread, some cold cuts, cheese, tomatoes, vegetable crisps and butter, and a bottle of cremant. Nice, but not worth a cent over €40!! Unfortunately, the breakfast was a real downer. A bag filled with 2 slices of french baquette, 2 slices of cheese, 2 slices of cold cuts, 2 juiceboxes, some milk, jam, unripe fruit and butter. NOT what you would expect in this price range. All together, I wouldn’t reccomend the cabanes, simply because the value for price just isn’t right. The location is beautiful and the views stunning, but for €165 one would expect a great breakfast and running water in the cabin.”
