“Having known about this restaurant since I was a child, it was a lovely treat to bring my family here for our end of year celebrations. From the outside it would be easy to miss this local gem, nestled in with the suburban landscape on the hills of Terrigal. We were pleasantly surprised with the sophisticated interiors and absolutely blown away with the coastal views. We chose the 3 course menu and every single dish was uniquely delicious, with generous servings that left everyone content. The kids menu was very generous and my daughter loved the high quality food. The service was great from our main waitress, however slightly inconsistent from the others. Overall I would highly recommend The Cowrie as the Summer menu was light, refreshing and was easily the best restaurant we have visited in years in terms of views, taste and consistency. Thank you for making our lunch so memorable.”

“The foods are great, we love almost all that we ordered. From the prawn roll, I understand it is fried, but the prawn is a bit dry but still ok. Tom yum soup is the star for me, though it came only with 3 prawns (it’s mentioned on the menu), the soup is clear, very fresh and tangy. The garlic beef is also good, it came with the salad leaves. The crispy pork with Chinese broccoli and pak choy, we didn’t like the crispy pork as the meat smelled but the vegetables are good and still crunchy. The tofu with cashew is another star dish from vegan menu. The place is quite small, very small isle to walk but always busy. The servants are very friendly and warm, you will be greeted and served with smile. Overall, we enjoyed the foods and will obviously come again to try some other dishes.”

The restaurant, a jewel on the peninsula, now boasts a skilled male and female chef duo, overcoming the regional challenges in staffing. My recent visit was marked by the 'Banquet for Two.' Each dish that arrived was a testament to the chefs' expertise. A highlight was the beef jerky, a unique delicacy, I sampled from my partner's plate. Its exceptional taste is a nod to the owner's heritage, where jerky is a specialty. The personalised approach extended to my espresso martini, prepared just as I prefer. While my photos may not do justice to the culinary art due to the lighting, the buzzing atmosphere of locals savoring their meals spoke volumes. Our heartfelt thanks to the chefs and owners for rekindling our love for Steam with such a remarkable dining experience.”
