“As a Londoner I am spoilt for choice when it comes to vegan food. But let me tell you, if you’re ever thinking to travel to The Queen Inn for a vegan feast, whether you’re a vegan or not, you should do it NOW! We had the sharing platter, chilli beef and mac and cheese and chocolate fudge cake and we were incredibly happy with everything that was served to us. Susan, who was our waitress, has some great customer service and can tell you a good story or two. We struggled to get a taxi from the station and the pub’s landlord came to pick us up in his red van. If that’s not good customer service, I don’t know what is. Don’t take this as an excuse to ask them to pick you up though 😆 Will be back! Thank you and keep up the good work”

“I adore this little Japanese cuisine place!! Highly recommended what I ordered in the photos. I think it is charming when they keep it cozy and small. One to three customers per group have to share a table with other groups unless you come in bigger group. It is first come first served, you may have to wait in a line for awhile during their busy hours, not ideal in the cold but I can say it's worth it. The food is so fresh and also affordable. The miso soup tasted authentic. I quite enjoyed their plum wine as well. Double-check to make sure the server got your order correctly and that it didn't get mix up with other customer's on the same table like what happened to us. Anyway, I would love to come back to try different menus!”

“I was faced with quite a challenge of finding a place to eat for three generations. My grandparents are not much for novelties, unlike me and my partner, my sister is vegetarian and my parents sometimes feel adventurous, but often stick with what they know they like. Fredrick’s turned out to be right in the middle - enough classics, but also some of more interesting combinations. We all ended up enjoying the meal. Between all of us we had fish, steak, duck, lamb, tofu and chicken and there wasn’t a crumb left on any of the plates! I really appreciated how seasonal the menu felt - lots of root vegetables, beans, kale and lentils. Even desserts were very autumnal! Overall - if you’re looking for a culinary extravaganza, that might not be the right place for the occasion. However, the cooking is great, the ingredients are fantastic - what’s more to like? The menu allows everybody to choose something they will enjoy. Not everything in the world needs to be a sensory overload. I felt like the prices weren’t too overboard for what was on the plate. Sure - it’s on the slightly higher end of prices than some of the other places in Islington, but I genuinely feel that the product deserves it. I especially enjoyed my starter of scallops with onion purée and lentils - really nice combo! Finally no peas and lardons on my scallops! :) Also the fig and almond tart with cinnamon ice cream! That was heaven. The recommended wine pairing wasn’t available, but I got offered something that I can’t remember anymore that was so so so delicious with that dessert. The summer rolls were also really tasty and my wife enjoyed her meal which was some kind of thick stew. Always happy finishing off with a Vietnamese coffee, definitely something to try if you haven't had the chance.”

“A friend took us to Shu whilst we were visiting him in Belfast, this is his go to restaurant and once you walk in, you could understand why. Decoration is simple, settings are comfortable and light, the menu is not over complicated and the staff are very friendly. The food is excellent, though with the steaks that we ordered, they hadn't quite cooked them quite right, still they gave us a a free dessert. I would certainly head back and try if I am in Belfast again.”
