“An exceptional lunch in a down-to-earth bistro. Don't let the lack of an Instagram-friendly angle fool you, the food at Educated Flea is exceptional. Start with the pistachio and feta dip with corn bread and the haddock souffle, both great appetisers for what's to come. Then there is only one choice - the Big Cow. 600g of beef cooked to perfection with greens, fries, two sauces and mustard. Edinburgh is full of alternative meat-led venues, but you'll struggle to find as wallet-friendly an option at this one and at this standard. Just brilliant. The dessert menu is expected but excellent. Rocky road served in the style of an ice cream sundae. Affogato. And scoops of ice cream that include 'unicorn' and the life-changing salted heather honey The Educated Flea is unlikely to feature on a reel of the hottest Edinburgh restaurants you just HAVE TO try. That's unfair, as it is the quiet workhorse of bistro excellence that more than deserves your time, appetite and money.”

“The Chinese Manor is a lovely restaurant with several interesting dishes. Visited with a group of eight and we were all delighted with our choices. The Salt and Chilli Haggis starter is a mouth watering blend of East & West. 😋 The Chef Speciality of XO King Prawn and fine green beans was fantastic too. The decor is pleasant and the seats nice and comfortable. Service is efficient but more importantly lovely and friendly. Definitely recommended.”

“A very nice place and very friendly staff. I had the lamb burger 10£ with a drink 9£ (very nice) and the lemon sorbet custard 5£ with a a latte2.5£ Overall very nice food and certainly filling. Overall bill 26.5£ which for a pub lunch type / burger I thgt was expensive. However as just exploring Scotland will get an ideas of how things are. Visit if in the way”

“The cocktails were nice but had about 3 mouthfuls of liquid in them. They tasted like they were just full of juice and ice, no alcohol. Majority of the staff were extremely rude and clearly couldn’t be bothered. A few times they’d rather stand and flirt with each other while holding our already made drinks. The place smells really weird too. I wouldn’t have paid the service charge if I’d had realised it had been added on.”

“On 2nd July, my wife and I visited there for our lunch. We wanted to have Steak for Two menu with drink. It was so good! The all staffs were also very good! Looking forward to visiting again soon! Thank you! On 13th April, I visited this restaurant for our lunch with my wife. There was a nice lunch set menu. All staffs were very kind. Very comfortable restaurant, I felt. “Was a little while ago I came here with the better half but I have been meaning to leave a review. We had some of the best food we have ever had right here at Michael’s. Starter, main and desert were all fantastic. Even the bread and homemade butter was perfect. The service and atmosphere were also great and this is a place I highly recommend to people when they travel up to Edinburgh. Scallops and black pudding to start, beef Wellington main and a blood orange cheese cake. I’ve also added photos of the other half’s food however I am unsure what her dishes she had. All in all fantastic food, reasonably priced, would recommend”
