“Omg yum! The breakfast here is so good! We walked in and there was a 15 minute wait which was not bad. You order your food and drinks at the counter and then they sit you at a table and the food comes out. They have a great system and great service. We got the pork chops, eggs, and cheesy potatoes. It was a first for me having pork chops for breakfast but I wanted to try something true to their menu. The combination of flavors and the apple sauce with the pork was amazing! So good!! This is a must visit if you’re in Berkeley.”

“This restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with a welcoming atmosphere and ample indoor and outdoor seating options. They have a respectable assortment of wines and scotches, although their cocktail selection is somewhat limited. As widely acclaimed in reviews, their watermelon salad is exceptionally delicious. You can order it in regular or single portions, and I recommend the single portion as it pairs well with other entrees like tacos. Alternatively, you might want to consider their Caesar salad. The Seabass tacos are my personal favorite, and they are served with the mouthwatering watermelon salad, making for an amazing combination. The chicken tacos are also fantastic and are accompanied by Mexican rice, white beans, and salsa. Overall, this is a place you should definitely check out. Enjoy your visit and have a great time”

“alaMar is owned by Top Chef contestant Nelson German and has some of the most delicious garlic noodles ($19) I’ve ever tasted–saucy, garlicky, and topped with a crispy fried egg. *chef’s kiss* While delicious, the meal can get a bit pricey, so take advantage of those restaurant week deals while you can. We ate here with our extended family (7 adults and 1 child) and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our kid ate a decent amount of garlic noodles, though I think we may have had to ask for the non-spicy versions of certain dishes. There is a fenced patio area on the wide sidewalk with heat lamps that is perfect for families. They offer high chairs, but I can’t vouch for a changing table…”

“Really delicious take away spot for South Indian food. Everything tasted authentic and amazing. We tried the thath idli, mini podi idli and medu vadas. Also their filter coffee was delicious. The rava kesari was so indulgent and tasty and not super sweet. They mainly do takeout but there were 3 tables outside with 6 chairs. Everything is self serve, I didn’t notice anyone tending to or cleaning tables. I’m looking forward to trying their lunch menu and thalis - everything looked super promising. Highly recommend.”

“The vibe starts with pulsating music, a few seats on the street and friendly efficient team working the take out counter. I love an overflowing Falafael, each bite was full of vegetables with flavors worth chewing and enjoying. Don’t compare this to your traditional, compare it to what you hope is available in the future! I’ll be back for the sweet potato fries!”

“We had a disappointing experience dining at Amaravathi House. The food quality and minimal service experience are key considerations for this review. The sweet corn chicken soup had no taste and shouldn’t be on the menu. Starters - the chicken 65 was likely stale and was served after reheating, likely in a microwave. There was no crispiness! The other chef special, karampodi Kodi, tasted better and was not freshly cooked either. We tried the Chettinad Chicken with fire and garlic naan. The bread tasted better than the dish, which is unfortunate as we were looking to some tasty curries and were left disappointed. Service is no good either, it almost felt like customers aren’t coming to dine anymore at this place.”

“Every dish was delicious and some were out of this world. I am not a fan of celery but wondered how they would elevate it. Wow, it was one of the best, most surprising, dishes I've had this year. And they sell the habanero dressing in this mini fridge by the "bottle shop" nook. DAYTRIP is now one of my top faves in the East Bay and we are already planning our next dinner here.”
