Lakeside Nature Center

( 10 reviews )

4701 E Gregory Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64132, United States

“Wow, this is a great little place. Leashed pets are welcome. There are cool rock formations and limestone glades. You can walk down over a stream, and there is a pipe in a bridge to check out. It's not very big however but there is a dog …”

Quogue Wildlife Refuge
4.8
( 16 reviews )

3 Old Country Rd, Quogue, NY 11959, United States

“This is saved under one of my favorite escapes from the city. They have beautiful, easy trails that immerse you in nature. They also have animal rescues and rehabilitated animals as well - from owls, to falcons, to eagles, to possums and tortoises! In the visitor’s center, they have reptiles and insects! It’s a great place to clear your mind, do some light aerobic activity, or to educate your young kids. The place is maintained well and is clean. The staff are friendly and engaging. They offer so many free activities and programs. It’s never full any time I’ve gone either so I’m a bit weary to promote it because I want to keep it an IYKYK kind of gem, but a place like this that offers so much beauty and help for free should be shared. Please come and support them!”

1080 Gunpowder Point Dr, Chula Vista, CA 91910, United States

“This wildlife refuge will always have a special place in my heart. It is one of the first places I took Bahbah when he was old enough to step outside. This park is the perfect place to take your adventurous dog. With many hiking trails and …”

Miller Nature Preserve
4.8
( 8 reviews )

2739 Center Rd, Avon, OH 44011, United States

“So glad to come across this preserve while in the area! A nice lady answered the phone and explained the layout of the trails to me before I arrived. It was a peaceful slightly cooler fall day. So much beauty still there to see! The trail short. But lovely and so relaxing. The conservatory had a 2.00 charge, but one of the most well kept indoor displays I have seen recently. Very much worth a visit. I can't wait to come back in summer! Also many cool programs such as water color and cooking classes held there! 👌 very nice”

Maggie's Jungle Golf
4.7
( 8 reviews )

7301 US-641, Gilbertsville, KY 42044, United States

“Jungle Golf delivered on the course experience for sure. The course was challenging, exciting and adventurous. This course is nestled in the rolling hills of kentucky and offers challenging holes that even if include an iconic windmill. The course was 40 minutes from our lake house on Lake Barkley and we got there early and it wasn't long till a line was forming behind us. I have to mention there was some beautiful Southern Baptist music playing in the background and there was a whole other section next door. This other section was a literal zoo that included a geriatric camel, goats galore, and a horse zebra. We rented a golf cart and purchased feed for the animals and off we went. If you're in the area I highly recommend you drop in and play 18.”

Keepers Of The Wild Nature Park
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

13441 AZ-66, Valentine, AZ 86437, United States

“Absolutely loved this place! We have a habit of trying to search out sanctuaries, wildlife areas, nature parks, etc. Obviously you can’t pet these big guys. But it’s a wonderful educational park, they take in a lot of animals that otherwise would be put down (hand reared tigers, pet monkeys((there’s one with no teeth because the owner pulled them all out in the hopes it would stop biting 😢), other parks that shut down) and give them the best life possible. Bring your walking shoes! Lots of sand/pea gravel, also sunglasses and at the very least 1 hour of time.”

Laporte Farms
4.8
( 10 reviews )
Open until 02:00 PM

7700 129th St, Sebastian, FL 32958, United States

“This is a sweet little petting zoo, based off donations so be generous. You can feed any of the four legged friends for $2 a bag for apples or carrots. The goats really are the main attraction they are super outgoing and want all the snacks. This is a quick trip for two adults, but I’m sure it would entertain kids a bit longer. Go support them if you are in Sebastian and want to interact with some cute animals! A baby camel should be making an appearance soon!”

Ardenwood Historic Farm
4.6
( 16 reviews )

34600 Ardenwood Blvd, Fremont, CA 94555, United States

“Met and exceeded expectations. My kids (10 and 7) were in awe. They were adamant about visiting on a day when the train was running and we finally got it after a couple of trials and errors. The last train departure from the entrance is at 2:50 pm on Thursday and Friday; one more run at 3:30 pm happens on Sundays only. No train rides on Saturday. The train was very real with a cute little diesel engine, sounding its horn and ringing its bell at railroad crossings, operated by an engineer and two conductors. The train passed through a eucalyptus grove and monarch butterflies were flying around in droves, it was a dreamy ride. We happened to be there at animal feeding time and that was entraining, too, happens at 3 pm every day starting at the granary (the place where grains are kept) when the farm is open. The farm lets children of all ages feed the animals so parents and kids alike lined up and were allocated a handful of grain to throw at the chickens or let the goats and sheep lick out of their palms. But please don't feed the animals at other times. There was also a blacksmith shop and the blacksmith forged a hook with an ornamental brass leaf for all those interested, you can also buy said hooks and other handmade iron items there. I found the forging demo very interesting and my kids watched attentively and asked a ton of questions, the blacksmith was very kind and patient and answered all of those. My seven year old spent most of his time at the farm milking the wooden cow, a cleverly made and surprisingly sturdy milking simulator, which you could refill and play with forever or until bedtime, whichever comes first. We spent 3 hours there and if we had come earlier and the cafe were open (the cafe is open on weekends only) we could have easily spent the whole day. What a gem!”

Gator Country La Alligator Park
4.6
( 16 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

380 Old Bayou Pierre Rd, Natchitoches, LA 71457, United States

“This was a fun stop on a family vacation. My kids (7 and 9) really enjoyed it. We were there during the winter, so gators were not active. They were still around, just not doing anything and not feeding. Lots of other animals to interact with and see. It wasn’t very busy, so the stop was pretty stress free and interesting. Staff were very helpful and informative. Some of the information posters and the cage glass were hard to see through as there was a lot of hard water build up. Bathrooms were a little run down.”

North Georgia Wildlife Park And Safari
4.3
( 8 reviews )

2912 Paradise Valley Rd, Cleveland, GA 30528, United States

“My favorite zoo! My 2 year old and I love the petting farm! The safari drive through is fun, as well :) Coffey and Ashley led our small animal & deer experience! I love the interesting facts they shared. They gave helpful tips for next time we come, too! (Parakeet feeding & summer camps!)”

Lupa Zoo

4.3
( 10 reviews )

62 Nash Hill Rd, Ludlow, MA 01056, United States

“Nice little zoo. Not a whole lot of animals but it was a decent little experience for our kids. $15 adult admission fee. No food available here. Bring your own or eat beforehand. I’d give it 4 stars if they had more interesting animals other than the “farm” type animals they had like lamas, goats, donkeys, deer and pigs. The animals we got to see were zebras, tortoises, bear, camels, monkeys, arctic fox, otters and some other animals. The interesting animals were hiding anyways.”

Shamba Safari
4.8
( 10 reviews )

W535 Eagle Rd, Neshkoro, WI 54960, United States

“What a wonderful place to visit! The animals are very friendly (for the most part. Some get cranky when you tell them no more, lol) …”

Zoo New York
4.2
( 16 reviews )

1 Thompson Park, Watertown, NY 13601, United States

“My husband and I love visiting zoos when we are on vacation, so we had to come to this one on our way home. There were some cool interactive things to help kids learn and some nice exhibits, but overall, the value for the price was disappointing. Many of the exhibits were closed or empty. The butterfly house was locked and inaccessible. A lot of the animals were not visible. We did get to see a bald eagle and porcupine pretty close up which was cool. The grounds were clean and well maintained and the animals seemed to be well cared for.”

Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo
4.5
( 8 reviews )

5135 Rome-New London Rd, Rome, NY 13440, United States

“Affordable, educational, an all around Great family environment! Kids loved it and so did we. They really focused on fun for the whole family. We will definitely be back again!”

Lemos Farm
4.2
( 8 reviews )

12320 San Mateo Rd, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019, United States

“We had a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch! We made sure to go early in the morning to avoid crowds, and it was great. We were able to get everything done within 2 hours. The staff is friendly and they keep the place updated. There is plenty of fun for the little ones and picture opportunities for the adults.”

Giraffe Ranch
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Open until 04:00 PM

38650 Mickler Rd, Dade City, FL 33523, United States

“What an amazing way to celebrate our eight year anniversary! The owner was very hospitable and knowledgeable as we rode some amazing and friendly camels through the vast expanse of his property. Every employee was super friendly, and I highly recommend the lemur feeding as well! You can tell these animals are well cared for. The gift shop was also a treat. Very well maintained ranch with awesome staff and a great owner! We will be recommending this place to everyone we know. Thanks again!”

Audubon Nature Institute
4.6
( 16 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

6500 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70118, United States

“What an unbelievable zoo. Such a beautiful place! Tons of animals up close. Giant old growth trees including the giant and magnificent Tree of Life. We spent four hours there and still didn't get to see all the animals. 55 bucks for two is a great deal. We didn't ride the train, but there is one that makes four major stops. I got a great collection of pictures and videos. Enjoy!”

Cayuga Nature Center
4.5
( 8 reviews )

1420 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY 14850, United States

“What a cool place! The nature centre itself was closed, but enter through the gate on the side. Nature reserve with an incredible six- story tree house (which would have been perfectly terrifying at Halloween). To get to the tree house, walk by and past the animals behind the centre, and keep following the trail for a couple of minutes. It's very well hidden in the trees. Incredible how they made it - well done to the construction team!! So fun with options to climb up ladders or take stairs at each level. The animals seemed well cared for, there was an owl, two red foxes, Turkey vulture, etc. Great place for a picnic or walk through the forest. Loads of cute chipmunks scurrying around! (Apologies for any motion sickness watching the hand held video - it shows from the top climbing down to the entrance of the tree house)”

Wild Georgia Safari Park
4.5
( 16 reviews )

26127 GA-57, Metter, GA 30439, United States

“We love this safari!! I have been multiple times and we it’s always fun! You just pay your entrance fee and buy your food inside the gas station then you walk in the petting zoo area to feed all the animals! You can also do a safari ride to the back which is cool too! We had the bus all to ourselves! It’s rained on the day we were originally supposed to do our safari ride and they let us come back the next day! They have also added in a new park area and carousel since we have been so we are definitely going to make the trip back!”

Texas Zoofari Park
4.5
( 8 reviews )
Open until 02:00 PM

9773 Farm to Market 429, Kaufman, TX 75142, United States

“A little pricey but definitely an awesome experience. We bought 5 food buckets but 3 would have been enough for our car of 4. Hold on tight to those buckets. The smart animals will try and get the whole thing out of your hands. Loved how friendly the animals were overall. You'll need a car wash afterwards.”
